Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds IP Address Manager (IPAM)
We use IPAM as our authoritative IP address collector for the entire firm. This eliminates all the different spreadsheets that need to be tracked and constantly updated. This also allows a one-stop-shop for requesting an IP address, and the ability to see what is currently in production.
Pros
- IP tracking
- DHCP scope check and alerts
- IP conflict prevention
- Generating quick reports for subnet usage
Cons
- It could pull data from the other modules to prevent entering data at multiple places.
- Allow for public IP redundancy.
- Reduction in man hours.
- Productivity increased.
- Reduction in the amount of resources needed to track IP info.
We haven't really used any other product besides IPAM. It does what it says on the tin, and I haven't seen anything else that provides this solution.
