Overall Satisfaction with Vertex

Vertex O Series is used across the entire organization, being rolled out in waves to facilities in conjunction with an ERP system change. It eliminates the manual accruing and invoice review related to use tax expenses. Simplifies the use tax calculation process and allows for better data available for return filings as well as future audits.

I used ONESOURCE (Sabrix) at a former employer from 2006-2014. As I was not here in 2015 when Vertex was purchased, I have no comment on this topic.

Large integration and there were a lot of bumps in the road during implementation, plus since initial go-live, we have discovered things that needed to be adjusted/corrected on the fly.
We have had an outside accounting firm assist with the set-up, implementation and post go live work. The several times that Vertex has needed to be contacted, they have been helpful in resolving issues as quickly as possible. The monthly updates are done timely and efficiently by our IT team.
It has simplified the calculation and accrual process which was done manually prior to the Vertex go-live. It has also streamlined the reporting functionality which prior to go-live was not centralized. Tax returns have been easier to work on based on the improved reporting, allowing for the earlier filing of them, such as being filed on the 16th when the due date is the 20th of the month.

Vertex is well suited for the nature of the purchases being made, which uses the UNSPSC code table for a majority of them. Other items purchased, we have set up other codes which work with Vertex in order to bring back a taxable or exempt status. The system as a whole is very useful to my team.
