Use Cases and Deployment Scope

My company (a large, national urgent care chain) has used XpertCoding for about 2 years now in order to streamline our medical coding. We have worked with their team to tailor the product to our specific setting as they are very open to suggestions that lead to improvement. We have had many iterations and needed many months but ultimately their algorithm is much faster and more efficient than human coders. They have helped us optimize our billing in terms of making sure that charts go to the payors with the correct billing codes and are able to process them so quickly in order for us to be paid for our services in a timely manner.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Enables a large volume of charts to be sent to payors for reimbursement with a fast turnaround time
Allows updates to the algorithms so that charts can be appropriately coded
Assures that charts are sent to payors with the most accurate billing codes which can help in the case of an audit

Cons

Integrate more AI into the product so there is less manual coding needed for the algorithms
Allow more customization of their dashboard

Return on Investment

The initial work required to get the product fully up to speed was a heavy lift for several employees but now the product works smoothly allowing for a large return on investment
The product has freed up our medical coder to be able to spend more time on education and the charts that have increased complexity

Usability

The product has integrated seamlessly with out EHR and requires very little effort on our part currently. They also have excellent customer service that allows for changes and updates regularly.

Likelihood to Recommend

XpertCoding is a great product for high volume medical practices that will reduce costs and can reduce issues with human error. The speed in which the product can handle the volume of charts would require such a large amount of human coders that it would be cost prohibitive. Smaller practices with experienced, highly skilled human coders may find that there isn't as much benefit.
