Overall Satisfaction with Zix Email Encryption (ZixEncrypt)

We are a third party managed service provider, we have deployed Zix at two whole organizations. Zix keeps both of these organizations in compliance and helps keep private information in the right hands.

Pros

  • Easy to access portal for recipients who are not Zix customers.
  • Completely compatible with Exchange - including Office 365 - making implementation a breeze.
  • Responding to issues and requests in a timely manner.

Cons

  • Ability for non-zix customers with Outlook to utilize a plugin instead of a portal upon receiving zix encrypted mail.
  • Would love to see even a low level amount of spam\virus protection on inbound mail.
  • For the portal, possible support for 2FA or ability to require more secure passwords.
  • Peace of mind that important emails are secured.
  • Ability to recommend a product without hesitation to fit the needs for security
I feel Zix is critical and helpful in banking, real estate, loans, etc. However I feel it could be less useful in environments where less compliance is required. Another great industry would be education. Essentially Zix is irreplaceable in any environment where personal or private information is sent via emails.

Using Zix Email Encryption (ZixEncrypt)

For whole organizations at least (which we have our experience with), Zix is mostly a set it and forget it system.

Roland, I wanted to address two of the items in your review; the Outlook plug-in and secure portal authentication. 1. There is an Outlook plug-in that can be used to decrypt Zix emails in Outlook. It is called ZixMail. It is a desktop encryption product that can be used to send encrypted email to anyone and to receive/decrypt encrypted emails from other Zix customers. The ZixMail client can be purchased off our website. 2. The secure portal has a number of different authentication options. You can customize the password policies to meet what ever requirements you have. You can also force passwords to expire and prevent password reuse. If you want 2-factor, we have a user friendly 2-factor option that can be enabled for your portal. If you have very unique authentication requirements, they can be implemented using your own authentication system and connecting to the secure portal using SAML 2.0. You can contact Support if you want more information. I hope this information help. Dena
