We use it for our system of record. It addresses helping provide us that system of record and helping us with our month end close. Our main modules, aside from out the box use, are revenue recognition and amortizations.
  • Amortization schedules
  • Revenue recognition
  • Record keeping
  • User friendliness
  • Intuitiveness

Netsuite is fine for almost all scenarios, it is just clunky in my experience and a legacy tool. It is 100% functional and overall usable no matter what, it is just not super fast or easy to use or particularly easy to navigate.

We use NetSuite ERP for GL purposes and it helps a lot with our consolidation as we have multiple entities under one parent entity. NetSuite ERP integrates with our revenue recognition software and our AP management software in order to pull that information into our GL.
  • Consolidating multiple entities for high level reporting
  • bank feed matching
  • automated amortization entries
  • overall the software design is not very user friendly and is pretty outdated looking
  • the permissions settings for different users are not very logical either. it took my company a long time to get each role's permissions set up properly and we still run into things that people don't have access to when they should
You really need NetSuite ERP if you are trying to report on multiple entities. The consolidation functionality just isn't available in some of the other GL systems. It also helps as you grow your company there is functionality that can be automated in NetSuite ERP which is helpful to a growing company.

We used this very sophisticated and deeply customizable platform to track complex manufacturing operations. We needed to track raw materials, 3rd party vendor components and finished goods across 4 different locations. NetSuite ERP was more than capable of this and allowed us to set up very specific and customized reporting that gave us incredible visibility into our operations.
  • Inventory tracking
  • Customizable reporting
  • Seamless bank integrations for GL transaction posting
  • creating custom templates for invoices, SO, PS ect
  • 2-step bank authentication connectivity
For complex manufacturing, or large sales teams I think this is a great solution. With Sales Force built into the ERP it is a great solution for a business who needs sophisticated inventory tracking, general accounting, and a CRM. If you do not need all of these things NetSuite ERP may be more expensive and capable than one needs and something like QuickBooks enterprise might be a better solution.

We use NetSuite ERP daily to generate quotes, meaning it is also our database for items, pricing, and CRM.

  • Generates quotes.
  • Sales document template options, e.g. quotes, invoices, sales orders.
  • Record of prior sales.
  • Database for catalog of items, including item descriptions, pricing, inventory.
  • Adjustments to quotes can be tedious - maximum display of 25 lines.
  • Inability to customize discounting - must use pre-loaded percentage.
  • Search terms must be exact - sometimes finding old orders is difficult.
NetSuite ERP is more transactional, perfect for templates and simple documentation.

Communicating within the platform is not ideal; we use a separate email app.

NetSuite ERP is our bible and the foundation for all of our entites. The NetSuite ERP system is linked to our custom TMS, Salesforce, and other systems used by our company. It is incredibly user-friendly and makes training new employees easy.
  • Financial statement creation
  • Entity hieracrchy
  • New user training
NetSuite ERP is a far easier ERP system to learn and use on a daily basis than others I have experienced in my career. It has all the functionality and power, without being needlessly complicated.

As a multi-channel e-commerce seller and manufacturer overseeing our supply chain, we leverage NetSuite's SuiteSuccess Apparel, Footwear, Accessories edition with OneWorld capabilities for effective subsidiary management. Within NetSuite ERP, our operations are supported by several key modules, including CRM Sales Force Automation, Grid Order Management, Inventory Management, Financial Management, Demand Planning, Work Orders and Assemblies, and Advanced Electronic Bank Payments.
  • Reporting - NetSuite ERP gives a variety of reports and allows customization to the reports for users with more advance knowledge.
  • SuiteAnswers - Forums where you can look up problems you are experiencing to see if others have similiar situations and solutions.
  • SuiteApps - Add ons that can help tailor the experience you need.
  • User roles - Limiting and defining what access users can, and cannot, have access to.
  • Bank Feeds - the ability to link your bank accounts so you have up to date balance information, as well as the capabilities to cut ACH from NetSuite ERP if enabled.
  • Direct integrations instead of using third party iPaaS or EDIs.
  • Make report customization easier.
  • Provide premade CSV import templates so you know what fields are required when bringing in data.
If they are a large scale corporation that require a comprehensive, robust system such a NetSuite ERP.

We use NetSuite ERP for general ledger management, accounts payable and vendor management. We are happy with the features in the general ledger package. We use dashboards and create ad hoc reports to gather financial data. We find the reporting to be easy to use and flexible. We use the workflow features within NetSuite ERP and find them to be adequate for our needs.
  • Work Flow
  • General Ledger and journal entries
  • Ad hoc reporting
  • Dashboards
  • Administration particularly in regard to user security
  • In the chart of accounts users should be able to change the account type on a general ledger account after it has been assigned.
  • The financial statement creation is complex if you report based on statutory accounting.
  • Accounts payable automation
Sinc we are a financial services company and have no physical inventory and use our administrative system for accounts receivable we only use a few specific functions. We find the general ledger to be adequate. We like the import/export feature to be easy to use and it works well. We import payables from our admin system daily along with a few entries from other systems.

Our entire organization uses NetSuite, and we use it for a number of different tasks. My use is related to the CRM, as a donor database. I record opportunities (grant applications or donation pledges) and cash sales, create invoices, and track donations and donors. I run reports to identify donors based on historical, recent or lapsed giving, dollar amount, event participation. I can also see retails purchases made onsite or online.
  • Keeps information together in one place
  • Communicates with our accounting software
  • Communicates with our online shopping portal
  • There are some issues, but I'm not sure if the issues are generated by NetSuite, or by other software inputting data into NetSuite
  • Sometimes NetSuite creates a long list of duplicate addresses for a single constituent
As a donor database, NetSuite is not as intuitive as some of the traditional CRM offerings, like Blackbaud. However, we've made it work by creating some custom fields.

I use it as part of the FP&A (Financial Planning and Analysis) team to review the financial data that our Accounting team posts to NetSuite. NetSuite ERP is used in our organization as the home of all financial data as well as for custom reports, opportunities, and vendor details. We use NetSuite ERP daily in order to complete our jobs in FP&A and support the Accounting and Sales Operations teams.
  • Exportable
  • Customer Support
  • Search functionality is really difficult to use
  • Updating reports is a difficult process
I believe NetSuite ERP as an ERP is a decent solution in the marketplace. It has some options for customizability, but it is not very user friendly for most users. In general I succeed more with the functionality and adaptability while using Adaptive Planning. It is much easier to hop between different views and look over different subsets of data outside of NetSuite ERP.

We use NetSuite ERP for our worldwide operations and companies. We use OneWorld NetSuite ERP and we are very happy with it. NetSuite ERP delivers unification all a cross the globe for our companies. The financial reporting in NetSuite ERP is outstanding and running reports is beneficial for the management. In addition, we synced and connected NetSuite ERP to Bill.com and Expensify and that gave us great use of our ERP.

  • It would be great if NetSuite ERP had an account reconciliation feature
  • More plug-ins to different software providers would be great
  • If we could connect up to our banking platforms that would make cash reconciliations better
NetSuite ERP is great for a smaller growing company that has outgrown it's current smaller ERP system like Quickbooks. The one big benefit to NetSuite ERP is that it does not take a lot of time to set-up and implement it like other ERP systems. I would not recommend NetSuite ERP to large global companies with complicated accounting.

I have implemented NetSuite ERP 3 times in various companies. We have used all of the standard modules, AP, AR, etc. Additionally, I have used the one world (multi-subsidiary) module, ARM module and Fixed Assets module.

These have primarily been at healthcare or healthcare adjacent companies and have been in light manufacturing, and consulting environment. I have typically been the super user and project manager for these implementations.
  • Ease of use
  • Multi Subsidiary/Currency
  • Source of Truth/System of Record
  • Managerial Accounting
  • Multi-dimensional GLs
  • NetSuite ERP is good at everything, but not the best
  • Each module costs incrementally more, even if you don't use it all
  • Customizations generally require a consultant and scripting
NetSuite ERP is the premium product for SMB/MM companies. It's out of the box solution is easy to use, relatively simple to implement and ease to train. It is aesthetically please and has a simple UI. Overall, it sets the standard for what an ERP should be, with some limitations.
It can be limited in impact for certain industries, but generally Oracle has a solution under their umbrella to address that or you can set up an API/Direct Connection.

We have used NetSuite across our whole organization for the past 7 years. We use the ERP functionality for financial, inventory, CRM, work order processing, and item management.
  • The system offers a good basic ERP structure for small businesses.
  • Their customer service is horrible.
  • Their collection techniques are miserable, threatening, and relentless
It may be well-suited for large corporations where the annual subscription bill is above $500,000.
They are miserable for small to medium-sized businesses.

We use NetSuite ERP to maintain our GL and as a single source of truth for our other tools that rely on GL data. As someone in the Finance org the tool provides us saved searches to export our data as well as a base for monthly reporting to our board.
  • NetSuite ERP makes hierarchy management easy
  • Getting data out of NetSuite ERP is relatively easy via saved search
  • Dunning notice module does a great job of automating customer payment notices
  • In my experience, editing reports can be difficult. Some things are more rigid than it needs to be and it can be difficult to move items around.
  • I've found navigation sometimes doesnt work via the search bar and it can be difficult to get to certain areas of the system.
NetSuite ERP is a good scalable solution for organizations looking to move off quickbooks. There is no reason it can't be used in a larger organization it all just depends on how well the system is set up and how one off your needs are. If you are trying to report out of NetSuite ERP it can be difficult sometimes to get data in the format you need without getting to a full saved search, especially for items like Balance sheet and cash flow.

In our organization, NetSuite is the hub for pretty much everything. We use custom records a lot. We have all of our project information for every job that we do stored in NetSuite. All of our financial partnerships are managed in NetSuite. We have partner access, so all of our subcontractors, everybody accesses NetSuite internally, we use it obviously for all of our financials. We have a wide variety of users, but my job is to support those users and we use case management for that. The complexity of all of the communication channels that have to take place for our industry. We have a lot of permitting and regulatory concerns that we have to get addressed, and the quicker we do that, the happier the customer is. We have a lot of communication streams with our subcontractors, our sales partners, and our financiers to make sure that everything gets connected the way that it needs to be and everything set up quickly and smoothly.
  • NetSuite has been great for us because it's highly adaptable. We have a niche way of doing our business and nobody really operates exactly like we do. And NetSuite doesn't operate that way out of the box, nor does it for hardly anybody that uses it, but it's really adaptable. So we were able to customize it, create all the fields that we need, all the links that we need, all the integrations that we need to make it work well for us.
  • Honestly, right now, my biggest pain point is kind of our own doing, but I would appreciate a little bit more support and help in the area of performance management and kind of understanding how our application is built, what are the best choices for customizing or solving a problem in terms of performance, because our company is rather large, we have a lot of data coming in and out, and that has been an issue for us recently.
It has suited us really well for our internal workflow, for our case management, the approval workflows that we have set up around those have been really easy to set up and modify, create new case types, and things like that. Room for improvement, maybe just the visualization of the data, the way that we have it laid out, and understanding how all the pieces and parts connect once it's all built out.

We use it for all ofthe financial transactions from ledger to purchase orders to invoice processing approvals and end-to-end income statement preparation or the cash flow and balance sheet report outs to the end-to-end primarily from the CFO's reporting point of view. That's how we are using NetSuite. Quickly searching up any of the transactions quickly, searching up different vendors, and their history in terms of what type of POS we have requested for them. And then also foremost financial data is all in there, which is very easy to search. And I think I have used other tools so far. I mean I know three months is a little short time, but still, with so much industry experience I would say NetSuite definitely has a search capability.
  • I'll talk about the income statement detail report, which is very common. So there are the filter or the selection capabilities so strong that you can view the summary and then you can go into the details and drill down into the transactions from the same place. Even I've used the advance your safe search features, which for someone like me, I'm from tech and engineering backgrounds, it's very easy to just write your own queries and just run the tool and run the report.
  • I think that if it's primarily product improvement or what we need to implement our AP invoicing, that processes link is a little bit missing because there are some manual because we use kind of an email inbox, and then data gets us. So that's what probably is missing from our NetSuite integration point of view. And then there is definitely, I mean we are looking for the MRP and all those pieces, so we'll look into that.
I have used Oracle Fusion. I've used SAP, but I think it's UI definitely. And I say it's very intuitive and most favorite. Again, drilling down, you don't need to run multiple sources and then get to the point that is the key feature, which we use heavily and it's very important. I think anybody who needs good financials and good data integration ends up reporting. I'll talk only from the finance point of view if you need a good reporting dashboard and timely close, that's the best use case. If the business is too small and they do not have very, I mean not much to do, obviously, these tools are expensive, then why not keep it in your Excel and a smaller size organization and decide about?

In my role as a CFO, I approve invoices, so I get a notification in my inbox, click on it and it takes me to NetSuite. It's part of the one login and just review the invoices and approve them before being paid.
  • Revenue recognition. We get information from Salesforce and we build the revenue recognition engine that I'm really pleased. We avoid a lot of manual work by doing this.
  • We send out invoices electronically from the system. We use it for the fixed asset now with the new lease opinion that we just adopted in January 2022. We leveraged technology, specifically the features in NetSuite to help us account for that.
  • Reports. I wasn't happy with the reporting. I don't think we're there yet. I understand better now the safe search functionality, but still when it comes to doing the monthly financial package, I rely on a different product.
  • I think they could be hard to use based on roles and permissions. I learned if you don't set those up the right way, you don't get visibility into the NetSuite data, and could be challenging.
  • I just watched the other data bill capture, and I was surprised to see that they only allow five pages for invoices. So I really want more than five pages. I want it unlimited.
Really in this hybrid environment, being up in the cloud and being able to securely access the data and work from anywhere, I think it's a real game changer for my team. So I really like the fact that NetSuite keeps up with security features and allows users to access it from anywhere.

We're implementing, and we're going from multiple systems all to NetSuite, and so we have one subsidiary on there. We're going live next month with a new subsidiary and next year with no subsidiary. And basically, we run our CRM out of there. We run manufacturing control out of there. We run our RPM out of there. And obviously our financials. The business process that NetSuite addresses is just better reporting and getting analytics out of our sales process and what items are selling on our e-commerce website versus which ones are not selling and what the margins are on those. I get better visibility through the data analytics warehouse on that part, and that's what solves our scope. Essentially we use it to run our whole company and so we go from the customer sale all the way to fulfillment to paying our people. It's used for everything.
  • NetSuite does analytics very well.
  • They do reporting very well. I love the ability to have control over how the information flows through my NetSuite, my user roles, and my responsibilities. I can assign certain tasks to certain people, and they do that and then also have the control to approve that and make sure it's done correctly.
  • Just being able to drill down into a particular GL account or into a particular line item and see what really makes that up and what's driving our certain costs.
  • Certain exports out of the system. There are some pages that you can export to Excel and some pages you can't, I don't know why. So it seems like it should be all functionalities there.
  • Some of the bank feeds have broken quite a bit and I'm not sure why. So we have to constantly go in there and readjust that on the reconciliation tab. I know that's new and robust and it's going well. It's more of taking out GL data instead of what's remaining in that account. As far as if I'm looking at a rec for a particular asset, I know there's GL data that goes through there. What I want to know is what's the balance in that account made up of as far as what's remaining there. So that's the kind of stuff I would buy with advice.
It's well suited for the e-commerce business. I think it does very well integrating with the Amazons and the eBays of the world, what we're putting in next year, the manufacturing business, I think it's grown leaps and bounds. I think it needs improvement there. It wouldn't be my first choice for manufacturing, but since all other companies are in NetSuite, we're bringing the manufacturing wing in there.

I've used it many different ways, but right now I'm implementing CPQ.
  • We really like the advanced manufacturing portion. It assists us with scheduling our product.
  • We're already implementing the CPQ a little bit and it seems to be working a lot smoother than our current CPQ system, so it's very helpful that it's native and that we can manipulate things just right there in NetSuite.
I'm trying to think of something specific. I mean, we use the CPQ, so it definitely helps out with configuring our product. And we have a very customizable product, so you can do any color, any size, and so it definitely helps build the routing for us.

We're using it to help us improve all of our accounting processes, to streamline our system so it's something that's scalable and will grow with our business as we grow. We're using it to deal with all of our day-to-day accounting needs to help us with our inventory processes, our routing, our work in progress, tracking, costing, and going to help us track customers, sales. Those are the main things that we're using it for. The biggest thing that we looked for was simplicity of use, that we could get people on board and using it more effectively. We come from another ERP solution, which was a total disaster for us. It wasn't implemented well, didn't suit our needs, we couldn't get anyone trained up to be proficient in it in any reasonable timeframe. So we needed something that we could bring people in, get knowledgeable, get proficient on a reasonable basis, and NetSuite's able to do that for us. So that was our biggest thing, but then also to be able to grow with us as we start, as we're coming from an R&D company moving into manufacturing, we're going to be over three continents, sales in the millions and tens of millions of dollars. We needed a solution that was going to be able to grow with us, and so that's what NetSuite is for us, it's that solution that's going to be able to take us from zero and run with us right up to being a billion-dollar company.
  • The big piece is it gives us a lot of the KPI indicators. When you land on the dashboard and right away you're able to identify, you'll create key information. I'm not having to dive into layers and layers of reports to get what I need. I can set it up and configure it, and then every time I log in I see it there. So that's probably one big thing.
  • The other thing is it brings together all these different pieces together into one ecosystem. I'm not having to get 20 different integrations to make it functional. It works just on its own. And then if I do need to, there are partners that work really well with integrations, so if there is something that works well, I can bring it in, but I don't have to at the same point in time. So those are a couple of big things that are really helpful.
  • I think some of it is in terms of some of the reporting, some of the reporting is really great out of the box. Some of the save search features require a bit more work to get set up, configured, and operating. It'd be nice if there were a few more prebuilt ones that would be really helpful there in some different industry segments. So that would just help to make things a bit easier. The fact that it's there and I can configure it to get information is great, but I still have to have someone who feels comfortable setting all those up and that can take some time.
Our context is manufacturing and for us, managing our inventory is really important. That's probably one of our biggest business challenges. So any business that's having to look at that, it's a great fit for startup companies that don't need a massive solution at early stages. It's really great because you can scale, you're not having to worry about redesign. So those are a couple of really good use cases. I haven't really encountered anything where I'd say it's not a great fit yet, so I don't really have an answer for that one.

NetSuite, we like to say, is our source of truth, so all data goes into it and anything that we need to know about the company comes from NetSuite. We use it as a data warehouse and then serve it out to wherever and however we need to serve it out. I think the biggest thing is tracking our business records. From customers to sales orders, estimates, items, and bill materials. Again, we use it as a source of truth, so being able to track all that stuff, know where it's at, and not have questions about whether is it this spreadsheet or that spreadsheet.
  • NetSuite has several different UI ways that a user can go in and pull reporting on a whole bunch of different databases without having to call somebody in IT to generate a report.
  • NetSuite has a bunch of ways where you can pull reports like save searches, and there are limitations on how many links you can go to get that data. Rather than make save searches work, they just create a new module instead of making the old module work. So now I have to learn this one and that one.
I think NetSuite's really good at a high order volume and tracking when you have a lot of transactions and information coming in and out, it's great as that stopping point for the information. Where I think they could do a little work is on the UI and usability of getting more reactive elements into the base UI, getting users closer to the data without having to do so many clips.

So within the organization, we use it to connect to various third-party platforms where we use it to supply our franchisees with ingredients and then also to build those franchisees for royalties based on their sales. So we do the full cycle of all the way from invoicing to collection and integrating our expense platforms and all accounting stuff. So the thing that we've worked through since I've been on board has mainly been integrating some of our third-party applications. So we've done some of that in-house and we've used some external help to make sure things are connected properly.
  • One thing that I've used it personally is when we moved into Canada there was a need to do different things on our invoicing for our customers. They needed to see our registration numbers and some specific requirements for that market. So one of the things we were able to do pretty quickly was create new PDF forms to print for our Canadian customers so that we would be in compliance.
  • This probably is a misunderstanding because I've only been in there 8 months, but one of the things that takes us more time than we'd like is just getting our banking stuff wrapped up, and that's a project we've got going on with a third party to help us to get that talking to each other, to at least get it a little automated to help us move a little faster.
I think the custom invoicing for us is we're starting to reach more globally and expand into other countries. The customization we can do with our invoicing and the ease of importing invoicing is really going to help us to expand quickly.

We use it as our central GL database. We have a lot of different kinds of technology solutions that we use around it, but at the end of the day, everything needs to feed into NetSuite. It's our single source of financial records and everything like that. The big thing that NetSuite addressed for us was the multi-subsidiary. So in real estate development, we have every single one of our projects as a different entity. We have multiple different operating companies as well. We have subsidiaries of those that need to consolidate and eliminate inter-companies and all of that. And so that was our big problem solve for NetSuite. We moved from QuickBooks desktop previously, and so it saved us a ton of time there.
  • I already mentioned the intercompany, which saves me a ton of time. Being able to book entries across multiple subsidiaries all at once is a huge time-saving. I also really value the way that it integrates with some other technology solutions, and I'm going to shout out to Ramp right now. I implemented that last summer and for credit card spend and being able to not have to spend hours reconciling credit card and having all the data feed right into NetSuite instantly without any kind of reconciliation needed is a huge time save. And it's not just Ramp that does that. We've used Stampli as well for AP and it does that. We recently implemented Rippling to handle HR and payroll. And so that's one of the big things. And that was a big selling point for me too, was being able to find these other solutions that can automate and make us very scalable. But they all talk nice. With API direct kind of integrations with NetSuite.
  • I think there's the challenge of NetSuite of just navigating how big it is. It's also, I don't think it's always the most user-friendly platform. I feel like I've been implementing still for two years of just learning how to, there's so many different things you can do, which is great and that's what I really like about it, but it's also not the most intuitive or user-friendly software.
In our business where it's really well suited is not only our multi-subsidiary management, but also being able to creatively. In real estate, we have things like carried interest and different investment valuations. It's been really unique in that I can keep all of those in one account, but using different classifications I can break out which investment is worth which amount I can break out between the dollars we've put into it versus what our valuation, our current quarterly valuation is of it. Being able to get a snapshot picture of all of that without having to pull together a bunch of different Excel files and all of that has been another big improvement of ours. One place that it's definitely lacking (and we've had to, and this was part of my whole ERP search process): so we have an in-house property management company because we build apartment complexes and then we have to manage them. I was trying to find an all-in-one solution and I looked at things like Yardi or MRI didn't like them as much for the intercompany and other things, the things that I love about NetSuite. So we've had to, I've realized we just have to work in two different systems. We have a separate property management system for the property-level books, and then I import them into NetSuite. But I think that's just kind of one of those things that it just is not going to be able to do everything.
