Overall Satisfaction with Avalara
I played a pivotal role in implementing AvaTax
at Alchemee. I used to manage the system. We filed our US and
Canadian returns through this platform.
In my current role at Infineon as a Tax Manager,
the Indirect tax team uses your Avalara Cert capture and TTR Research tool.

- AvaTax - Sale and Use Tax returns filing
- TTR Research Tool
- Cert Capture
- Webinars
- Customer Support
- Technical Support
- Reference materials
- Add the Batch Import ID in the canned reports.
- Based on my experience, I was assigned by a junior tax preparer. I suggest giving more experience.
- Create a reconciliation report for prepayments, especially if there are a lot of roll-forward balances.
- More compatible settings with the order management platform. We had issues with the Kibo platform connecting with AvaTax in the past.

Avalara
and Vertex are cloud-based solutions for sales tax compliance, but they differ in features, pricing, and customer reviews. Avalara and Vertex offer tax calculation, tax filing, exemption management, reporting, and audit trail features. However, Avalara claims to have more integrations
with ERP, e-commerce, and other software platforms than Vertex. Vertex also offers tools and services for different
types of taxes, such as income tax, payroll tax, and VAT.
Neither Avalara nor Vertex disclose pricing on their websites, but based on experience, both have competitive rates. However, the actual cost may vary
depending on the number of transactions, jurisdictions, and modules
required by each customer. Avalara includes ease of use, accuracy, and customer support, but it can be high-cost, have technical issues, and provide poor
customer service.
Vertex includes functionality, customization, and reliability but may consist of complexity, lack of support, and a single
point of failure. Based on these points, I selected Avalara
because it integrates more with the software I've experienced in the past and provided more accurate and consistent tax decisions based on precise geo-location.
