I am not on the technical side of things but the implementation and GoLive teams for Avalara were very helpful, in my experience.

We just began the Certificate Management program along with SST returns and we are very satisfied with how automated the compliance is following set up. We have also used the Professional Services such as backfiling, although I have not been nearly as happy with their performance in this category. Backfiling & amending returns is often quite time sensitive and I don't feel they have treated these matters this way. There seems to be a breakdown in communication between the customer, support & the account manager. Funding requests come out of the blue, frequently after not hearing back about project status for days-weeks.
I have not used any similar products. I think Avalara is very valuable in the right situation but also has room to improve certain features, offerings.
