Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds Pingdom

I primarily use Pingdom to monitor web applications and related infrastructure, and alert team members when actionable outages occur.
  • Basic website monitoring
  • Basic network monitoring
  • More advanced website monitoring, including passing POST data.
  • The user interface could be more intuitive
  • The troubleshooting help tied to each outage incident could be more helpful.
  • The customer support for lower-level accounts cold beer more responsive.
  • Pingdom will have positive ROI depending on how well you tune it to monitor and alert you to actionable incidents.
Pingdom is much simpler to set up and use compared to in-house solutions running on your own servers. It also gives you service availability monitoring from the viewpoint of your outside users/customers.
Support is provided by email. More expensive account types might get phone support (not sure). The more complex the issue, the more difficultly this posed.
Pingdom is great if you are just starting out and have a low budget. It is web-based, so it's useful for monitoring your applications and infrastructure from the standpoint of any outside user. It is fairly easy to set up monitoring tasks, so it's easy to get started.
