If you need to establish a system right away, in the past it took weeks or months to request a quote from the vendor and receive the equipment. Now, with Amazon EC2 in less than tens of minutes or hours, you can create a test environment and test it without any inconvenience.

I love using Next.js — it's my go-to framework for new personal projects and work projects. The local development environment is quick, easy, and fun to use. The framework it uses, which puts an API that runs node in your pages subdirectory, is absolutely genius. No more middleware! It's good for quick projects and big projects alike. I wouldn't use Next.js if I did not want to heavily rely on serverless tech.

It is well suited when we need to integrate business processes with SAP ERP and SAP CRM - the solution can be integrated with business rules/procedures defined in SAP ERP/CRM and NetWeaver can be used to monitor the rules and flag off exceptions. When there are multiple workflows running, it tends to slow down running of these processes. Also, it entirely depends on SAP portal for it to run efficiently.

    Pros
    Amazon AWS
    • Dynamic scaling can be configured to respond to a wide variety of metrics and alerts
    • Predictive scaling allows one to get ahead of high traffic events rather than simply reacting to them
    • Health checks are configurable based on the needs of your application and architecture

    • Virtual paper trail. Iterations of process and current documentation are all stored as "artifacts", leaving a great trail.
    • Configuration of users. BPM somewhat magically determines which users will be impacted and automates rules.
    • A pro (that is also a con) is the design interface. If you know what you are doing, it is incredibly powerful and malleable.

    Cons
    Amazon AWS
    • Enable cross region auto-scaling. It currently limited to a single region.
    • Support custom health check scripts, deeper integration with application-level metrics. At present, health checks are basic.
    • Adding cost-aware scaling scripts that factor in instance pricing and recommend optimal configurations based on budget constraints.

    Usability
    Amazon AWS
Usability is good since we already know how AWS works. For those that are new it might be a little bit confusing at the beginning but they are improving it at a fast pace. Even though AWS keeps changing the user interface constantly, it is still powerful, understandable and easy to use. For technical people, they still offer the CLI.

    Support Rating
    Amazon AWS
The platform works as is. The help and tutorials on the help page can help you to setup the entire platform without problems, and also provides help on a huge variety of problems. Amazon also provides support plans. We have the basic support plan, but Amazon offers three support tiers, and we know that it works perfect.

We have our own tech support for systems, I would say they probably could use more training on it, I don't really think it's anything regarding the SAP system, but more the knowledge they have on the system itself. It seems to take longer for them to fix any issues we may come across.

    Alternatives Considered
    Amazon AWS
The main reason is our total infra is created on AWS and we tend to use the natural service by AWS rather than third party tools, which has more advantages when the auto scaling interacts with other AWS services and its way easy to configure when we compare it with counter parts like Autoscale from Microsoft Azure.

Next.js takes the best parts of React and applies them to a full-stack dev environment. With a built-in serverless API, it's easy to boot up a web application in under an hour. With easy integration with tools like Firebase, Supabase, Stripe, and countless others, Next.js is a perfect tool for getting your idea out into the real world.

I found the initial setup of NetWeaver is much simpler than other products especially in an SAP environment where we have SAP ERP/HRM/CRM as it can be well integrated with other SAP products. The only drawback is the need/dependency on SAP Portal. It is better suited in an environment where SAP ERP is running.

    Return on Investment
    Amazon AWS
    • We will devote more time to development than server administration, but we will require additional time if you migrate from another ecosystem.
    • Fault detection and reporting are automated in the old server, and bandwidth is fixed per month, but everything is manageable automatically. We only pay for the resources we use.
    • After some months, we met our return on investment (ROI).

    • Helped us harness integrated benefit from having SAP ERP/CRM by leveraging NetWeaver to define business processes/rules and monitor exceptions
    • Did not have any negative experience except for the fact that at times when multiple rules run, it can be somewhat slow
