Avira Password Manager

[Avira Password Manager] is a highly recommended tool to manage all passwords. It has made it possible for us to save all our passwords and no one can get access to those as it protects them with a master password and give us an alert if someone tries to hack it. it is not good if someone is looking for easy to use password manager tool.

AWS Secrets Manager

[AWS Secrets Manager] is really good at managing the secrets for each environment (stage, production, ...), and with a simple command, the users will get all the variables for running the project. Depending on the user role, they could just read and/or edit the variables on the Secrets Manager on AWS. This facilitates the management of the secrets.

AWS Secrets Manager

  • It could be good if a user can use a variable in the project but can't see them in the manager on AWS

Alternatives Considered

Avira Password Manager

Although the interface of Dashlane was user friendly and it was easy to operate but the worst part of Dashlane was first its pricing which is very reasonable in the case of Avira and secondly Dashlane was not enough to provide security to all our passwords as Avira [Password Manager] has secured all our passwords with a Master password.

AWS Secrets Manager

Although we never ended up going with Beyond Trust DevOps Secrets Safe, we did evaluate it as a competitor to AWS [Secrets Manager]. We ultimately decided to go with AWS [Secrets Manager] because of the name "Amazon" and the reliability. Beyond Trust [DevOps Secrets Safe] seemed like a perfectly fine alternative, but in the end, we chose AWS [Secrets Manager].

  • It helped in protecting our passwords.
  • No negative impact.
