AWS IoT Device Defender vs. Google Cloud IoT vs. ThingWorx

We have used AWS IoT Device Defender to safeguard our client's IoT senors placed in a manufacturing unit for implementing Industry 4.0 solutions. Its machine learning and automation capabilities have ensured that we get alerts whenever something abnormal or spike in a particular metric is detected which lets us sleep at night. Didn't find any scenario where it is less suited.

I consider myself very techy and found Google Cloud IoT platform very challenging to manage. The lack of tutorials and discussions to understand how each section works is very challenging. I specifically made a connection after several hours to Google Nest to third-party integration, Home Assistant. Shortly after Google Cloud upgraded to a new version breaking the connection. This was extremely frustrating. No service should take several hours to figure out, in my opinion, if it does, the platform is doing a poor job of making it easy. I'm personally very discouraged any time I ever have to use this platform. It's very hard to find answers.

It is well suited for situations where you require an end-to-end platform for pushing code and managing data and security of the IoT application. However, it is not well suited for the case when you want to scale the app up to many users and this requires more from the part of the product.

• software is having an easy interface
• prevents malicious data inflow/outflow from the AWS resources
• collect data from different devices
• generating alerts in case of any threshold.
• Unique identity per device

• Integration with different brands of microcontrollers including the one currently used by Espresiff.
• The platform is very robust and secure.

• Asset Monitoring - quick and easy to deploy, can connect to the plant floor and get real-time data from devices.
• Analytics - The TWX Analytics extension has a variety of analyses that can be done into any data source input into TWX.
• Alerts notification - you can program alerts to be sent via email/SMS seamlessly.

• Support to more range of Application vulnerabilities
• Data Management can be richer
• Limited Computing Power at times

• Not beginner friendly.
• Needs more tutorials and walk throughs on how to get started.
• Very complicated and unless you know what you are doing you will be lost.
• Lack of material found on how to do each section / services.

• Advanced functionality in control and data visualization often requires additional coding from the user.
• Support and tutorials provided are often lacking in detail or are not readily transferable.
• Mashup development works poorly on small monitors or laptops.

We started more than a year ago and do not plan to replace it

Experienced and knowledgeable customer support executives, Thingworx is a very large product and contains a myriad of features which is not easy to remember without enough training or hands-on experience

Although comparisons are hateful, even more so when we are talking about leading brands where the quality of their services are indisputable, the general environment of Google was more familiar to me since I use, for example, Google Firebase on a daily basis, where part of the concepts are similar, without Without a doubt, AWS services are excellent, but it was easier for me to go through the functions of Google Cloud IoT.

Well-suited - multiple streams from many data sources, highly scalable application scenarios.Good for a quick test of internet of things (IoT) connectivity and for deploying access via the web. Smooth deployment, easy to couple to devices. Easy cooperation with Splunk, which we use also.

• It's ML part which is already trained and on the top of that we can add our own model to define device behaviors to monitor traffic and set the upmost security.

• The amount of hours to get things integrated is negative.
• The amount of hours researching how to get devices integrated is negative.
• Overall the amount of time and effort getting things working has been a negative experience.
