Cloudiway Migration Platform vs. dbt

Cloudiway excels in comples cross-tenant microsoft 365 migrations, especially with coexistence needs during data merges. It's also ideal for Slack to teams and archive migrations. However it is less suited for small scale or one off migrations due to cost and the time it takes to configure.

The prerequisite is that you have a supported database/data warehouse and have already found a way to ingest your raw data. Then dbt is very well suited to manage your transformation logic if the people using it are familiar with SQL. If you want to benefit from bringing engineering practices to data, dbt is a great fit. It can bring CI/CD practices, version control, automated testing, documentation generation, etc. It is not so well suited if the people managing the transformation logic do not like to code (in SQL) but prefer graphical user interfaces.

• It's useful for even not trained staff with all the sources available.
• Give end user the freedom to make new users in his own organization
• Integration with multiple cloud director sites (you can just open one site but can enter all the other sites from there too)

• dbt supports version control through GIT, this allows teams to collaborate and track the data transformation logic.
• dbt allows us to build data models which helps to break complex transformation logic into simple and smaller logic.
• dbt is completely based on SQL which allows data analyst and data engineers to build the transformation logic.
• dbt can be easily integrated with snowflake.

Perfect rating, cloudiway migration offers a clean interface, intutitive setup, and powerful automation tools. There is a slight learning curve but you get what you pay for. They really handle the problem of data migration well, and they have decent support/FAQ pages to guide you if you're stuck. Overall 10/10

dbt is very easy to use. Basically if you can write SQL, you will be able to use dbt to get what you need done. Of course more advanced users with more technical skills can do more things.

I see Cloudiway is a great solution for those who want to migrate and transfer there data, especially sensitive and very important valuable data to data storage. It's just a flexible, cost-effective tool for any budget, depending on the company's understanding of how to work with. That's our case. Another option was own scripting or maintaining the end users in the backend. This costs to much time to maintain (scripting) and has a big change of a Security breach. It was not an option for us either way.

I actually don't know what the alternative to dbt is. I'm sure one must exist other than more 'roll your own' options like Apache Airflow, say, bu tin terms of super easy managed/cloud data transforms, dbt really does seem to be THE tool to use. It's $50/month per dev, BUT there's a FREE version for 1 dev seat with no read-only access for anyone else, so you can always start with that and then buy yourself a seat later.

• Can move all emails quickly without operational disruption
• No expenses for specialized training of my team
