Corel VideoStudio Pro vs. ilos

I really can't think of a video editing scenario that would NOT be suited for. It's quite robust and intuitive. It's quite appropriate for all levels of video editing that I have any need for - and you can really make it just about as complex or simple as you'd like.

ilos is great for a larger group looking for an easy to learn capture system and platform all combined together. Because it lets you record, edit, and share there is no reason to learn one or two software for capture and editing, and another for sharing. ilos is not targeted at intermediate or advanced users, so the ability to manipulate your content - specifically when editing, is very limiting to more experienced users.

• More video demonstrations/teaching would be nice

It keeps simplicity and power in one program at a very fair retail price. Features are clearly marked and I feel spending about an hour with the program will make it a valuable asset to most organizations. Great for creating videos based on templates and a need for quantity. I can't imagine anything easier or better.

I haven't reviewed any other products, as I've been using [Corel] VideoStudio for 10 years now. I really don't have a need to switch.

It was a tough call to choose ilos over Kaltura, but the more limited features made ilos seem more approachable for novice users. Price was also far lower because of the limited focus of ilos. Kaltura did offer more tools for marketing/public purposes - such as streaming, capture integration, and video portals - but none of those are necessary for us.

• Clearly stated goals and presentations
• A fun, anti-boring way to present new ideas and/or past success
• Has effectively shown an important opinion; it gets the message across in a sharp, exciting way in a space where many struggle to capture attention

• Makes sharing content with students easier for faculty - so they actually make and share videos more than before
• Students don't have issues viewing, even on limited bandwidth
• Because you can make a video wherever and whenever you want, creation has increased
