DataRobot

DataRobot is one more mature predictive model builder tool available in the market right now. It is well suited for models in certain industries more than the others. Since data handling and treatment is not performed by the software, users need to keep in mind that a thorough QA of the data should be done before its fed into the DataRobot tool.

Keras

Keras is quite perfect, if the aim is to build the standard Deep Learning model, and materialize it to serve the real business use case, while it is not suitable if the purpose is for research and a lot of non-standard try out and customization are required, in that case either directly goes to low level TensorFlow API or Pytorch

Pros

DataRobot

  • DataRobot helps, with algorithms, to analyze and decipher numerous machine-learning techniques in order to provide models to assist in company-wide decision making.
  • Our DataRobot program puts on an "even playing field" the strength of auto-machine learning and allows us to make decisions in an extremely timely manner. The speed is consistent without being offset by errors or false-negatives.
  • It encompasses many desired techniques that help companies in general, to reconfigure in to artificial intelligence driven firms, with little to no inconvenience.

Keras

  • One of the reason to use Keras is that it is easy to use. Implementing neural network is very easy in this, with just one line of code we can add one layer in the neural network with all it's configurations.
  • It provides lot of inbuilt thing like cov2d, conv2D, maxPooling layers. So it makes fast development as you don't need to write everything on your own. It comes with lot of data processing libraries in it like one hot encoder which also makes your development easy and fast.
  • It also provides functionality to develop models on mobile device.

Cons

DataRobot

  • Not having any data cleansing or ETL capabilities, as most of the time you need to clean the data or append data before running models.
  • There are constraints to how many models can be run, so this is frustrating, but this is how the pricing model works.
  • It would be nice to have some me plug and play APIs for Salesforce and other tools instead of having to build your own.

Keras

  • As it is a kind of wrapper library it won't allow you to modify everything of its backend
  • Unlike other deep learning libraries, it lacks a pre-defined trained model to use
  • Errors thrown are not always very useful for debugging. Sometimes it is difficult to know the root cause just with the logs

DataRobot 10.0

DataRobot presents a machine-learning platform designed by data scientists from an array of backgrounds, to construct and develop precise predictive modeling in a fraction of the time previously taken. The tech invloved addresses the critical shortage of data scientists by changing the speed and economics of predictive analytics. DataRobot utilizes parallel processing to evaluate models in R, Python, Spark MLlib, H2O and other open source databases. It searches for possible permutations and algorithms, features, transformation, processes, steps and tuning to yield the best models for the dataset and predictive goal.

I am giving this rating depending on my experience so far with Keras, I didn't face any issue far. I would like to recommend it to the new developers.

We were unable to make use of the software without a lot of investment on our side. While their team reaches out frequently the software is not designed for companies with smaller data sets and this should have been reviewed before the contract was signed and not after. Their team is available to support your existing team but they cannot make the software work if it's not applied to the right size data set or the right problems. I highly recommend uncovering these issues before signing a contract.

Keras have really good support along with the strong community over the internet. So in case you stuck, It won't so hard to get out from it.

Alternatives Considered

DataRobot

DataRobot automatically reads your data and builds an array of models with it while RapidMiner is a drag and drop tool where you have to have more knowledge regarding best practices and theoretical knowledge around building data science models for predictive purposes. DataRobot is a much easier and better tool to use than Rapid Miner

Keras

Keras is good to develop deep learning models. As compared to TensorFlow, it's easy to write code in Keras. You have more power with TensorFlow but also have a high error rate because you have to configure everything by your own. And as compared to MATLAB, I will always prefer Keras as it is easy and powerful as well.

Return on Investment

DataRobot

  • Significant time to value with the help of their enablement services.
  • Significant cost avoidance, as the productivity gains are huge for the data analysts.
  • Insights came quickly and delivered 4X ROI on the Marketing funnel.

Keras

  • Easy and faster way to develop neural network.
  • It would be much better if it is available in Java.
  • It doesn't allow you to modify the internal things.
