Dell Data Protection | Encryption Enterprise Edition (DDPE) vs. Virtru

DDPE is great if you want very specific data encrypted and managed. It's flexible in terms of configuration but also can be quite a pain to get configured right. It requires a lot of exclusions and does not play nice with Windows Updates. Usually the client needs to be updated before updates on Windows can be installed and sometimes a new version is no where in sight. The ATP is great but also requires extensive configurations as otherwise it has way too many false positives.

Of all the products out there that integrate with Google, we found Virtru to be the most user-friendly for both our users and the recipients. At the same time, its logging capabilities provide the trail we need for sensitive information. This is one tool for us that has generally been "setup and forget" which helps with the I.T. Dept workload.

• Silent installation/uninstallation. It was very easy to deploy and remove the software remotely.
• Transparent to users. Users did not see messages from the software or notice performance issues during encryption.
• File or disk level encryption. Includes the option to do file or full-disk encryption to meet your organization's needs.

• Email encryption without installing or exchange keys with the recipient.
• Email DLP that is easy to configure and maintain.
• Application Gateway that encrypts email sent directly from SaaS application (ex. Zendesk, SalesForce).
• Protect attachment with restriction like time, print, and copy.

• Native Google Docs file encryption should be improved, it's working great in Google Drive but only for files that are not Google native.

For the one sending/using, I rate a 10. For receiver experience, I would rate it 8, as sometimes there are hiccups. So overall, a 9

We switched to McAfee Endpoint Encryption, which provides full-disk encryption. We saw fewer issues with McAfee Endpoint Encryption full-disk encryption than Credant full-disk encryption.

Full Gmail integration was not a negotiable item for us in our evaluation. Other products provided our needed functionality, but they were outside the standard Gmail interface. That made them more difficult to use, and also less likely to be used. Virtru was the only one we evaluated that actually resided within the Gmail interface, making it very easy to use.
