Deltek WorkBook vs. Liferay Digital Experience Platform (DXP)

My recommendation very much depends on who the colleague is. I would recommend WorkBook if it is an accountant, project manager or someone similar, and if the setup is done within WorkBook and passwords, etc. are being used within WorkBook only. I would tell IT Managers to avoid the application and think twice in terms of access management etc.

Liferay Portal is a framework which comes with a fine grained security/permission model, (Web) Content Management, Authentication and Authorization, outbox portlets with different features to manage content or users. So if any business application has below questions then I can recommend not to use Liferay as a platform.

• Application is big but not content or user driven.
• Application with few static contents.
• Application with batch transactions(DB) i.e. insert , update db records in batch.
• Application with ERP capabilities.
• Application with Big Data support.

• Workbook handles all processes in a consultancy company
• Workflow options on all thinkable processes
• Support global growth and intercompany management
• Strong planning tool
• Able to manage multiple clients to one project
• Advanced template set-up
• The communication module, so all relevant information is available on the projects
• Flexible planning and project management

• The integrations on IT level are not great and should be improved.
• Change of IP's that's used for logins are being changed without reporting it to super users.

We are currently using Liferay Portal and plan to keep using it.

Gets the job done, just not the sexiest.

Liferay Digital Experience Platform (DXP) feels more professional than other similar products I tried or used. With this, I mainly mean the look or aspect when you are editing, setting or configuring anything in the platform, wether you are setting users, roles, creating new pages, adding components to them, or even configuring server or instance related configurations.

• WorkBook is one of the cheaper solutions on the market, which, in the long term, gives a great ROI.
• We have spent a lot of time on support which is a negative impact.
