Echobox Email vs. Email on Acid

Echobox Email is great for news or article-based sites. It's the only platform we've used that allows editors to simply paste one link to include or override a story. The ability to automate fully or enable periodically is a time and money saver for us during holidays or employee vacations. The platform has been easy to learn and a great improvement over our workaround solutions in Mailchimp and Campaign Monitor. Besides the platform UI and optimizations for articles (which is worth switching for alone), the AI/ML built in to the platform has already started showing improvements to our open and click rates. The personalized send time is a game-changer and the personalized story selection is a promising feature– we look forward to seeing how it plays out over time.

Suited: Pre-deployment QA and rendering validation: If your audience uses a diverse mix of email clients and devices (e.g., corporate Outlook users, gmail users on mobile, etc.) Email on Acid ensures consistency across all of them. Less appropriate: If your organization only sends basic text-based emails or uses template with minimal HTML customization, then Email on Acid might not be appropriate.

• Reporting area has bare minimum and could use some UI improvements
• Timezone quirks can come up when editorial team is fully remote
• Google Analytics integration would be nice to have so that popularity of articles could be incorporated in algorithm
• Integrations with common form plugins would be great

It has helped increase traffic via social media, which was something crucial for us. This came without extra working time. On contrary, it saved us time.

It does most of the work for you so there isn't much for the user to do. More advanced needs might need help from their support.

I'd rate Email on Acid a 7 out of 10 for overall usability. It is intuitive, reliable, and greatly enhances the QA process for email campaigns, though there's still some room for improvement in speed and report flexibility. For example: the previews sometimes take longer during peek hours, especially for complex or image-heavy emails

Echobox Email is specifically built for article-based newsletters and pre-selects content based on your criteria so the editorial team is not starting from scratch. Article-based emails can also be fully automated which was not possible in Mailchimp or Campaign Monitor before. Our web development team no longer needs to build custom solutions to integrate with the ESP and instead can focus on other projects.

Email On Acid is very similar to Litmus, but perhaps slightly more reliable. I have used both extensively, and prefer Email On Acid.

• Ability to send over 1000 previews spanning across 90 email clients.
