It is well suited if you have a production plant and you want to cut down the cost of cloud storage. It is best for medium to large companies if they want to process their machine generated data at their production site and only store the data that is required in cloud storage. It is less appropriate for small companies.

Most of the time it works perfectly, does not require any attention, but when there is a problem, it's really hard to diagnose it. I think the documentation for the positive scenarios are good on the Microsoft side, but for negative scenarios, I don't think there is enough community help out there, in my opinion.

  • I wasn't involved fully on the commmercial side, but as far as I understand, it was much cheaper than other options e.g. SAP IoT etc.
  • We've got support from MS during Piloting phase
  • During go-live the support was a bit thinner than piloting...
