ERPNext vs. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance

It is so flexible and configurable that it can be fairly easily adapted to most situations.

Its well suited for medium and large organizations that needs strong financial control , automated workflows , inter-company accounting and real-time reporting . It works wonderfully with all the Microsoft products . However , it may be less useful for small businesses as it requires a good investment in implementation , customization , licensing and user training

• Locally hosted, so it is very fast
• Help documents are pretty good
• Lots of flexibility in configuration

• Financial reporting
• Multi-company consolidation
• Hub and spoke setup

• Random errors (seem to be related to python) can be very difficult to troubleshoot.
• Creating reports and print/email documents is very cumbersome and confusing. Needs to have a WYSIWYG editor.

• More clarity on features going away
• New feature showcases
• Demonstrations for how things were intended to be used

Overall good, but needs some training to get people to be proficient in the system.

As the UI is modern and user friendly which makes it easy to navigate . The dashboard , workspace and personalized view helps to access the right set of information with ease

Wanted something flexible and with the ability to self-host. Open source is also nice.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance is more robust, and can handle larger, more complex business operations, and have better delineation between corporate management and divisions in a company, but it is not flexible, nor easy to change. It is complex, inflexible, and difficult to incorporate new workflows or business rules to accommodate changes in the business. We have changed over the past decade and while F&O is big and robust, it is not nimble.

• Neutral, needed to find a new system as the current system is being retired.

• Because F&O is not very nimble, we are looking to reimplement
• The lack of interoperability has hindered our ability to use external tools to supplement shortcomings of the product
• The inflexibility has lead to great frustration from team leads
