Fastly Edge Cloud Platform vs. StreamShark Live Streaming Platform

The service is really well-suited for pretty much any site that is primarily display-driven (that is, mostly GET requests). The network is able to handle massive volumes of traffic and their POPs have spread out pretty much anywhere that it's easy to get them (so basically everywhere but China and Russia). My team witnessed several large-scale attack attempts on some high-profile websites (attacks in the 10s of millions of requests per second) that were mitigated before ever coming back to the actual application; in one case we didn't realize the attack had happened until we looked at the logs the next day. Because it's a cache store option, the default configuration does not cache POST responses, and it can be difficult to set up things like authenticated paywalls as a result.

For internal communications such as Town Halls, StreamShark is a perfect solution. StreamShark provides the necessary security needed for private companies as well as a tried and true viewing experience for the end user.

• Very performant and fast -- major companies have drastically reduced page load times with Fastly's edge technology.
• Support for many types of media, including video.
• Image add-on makes serving and manipulating images very simple.

• StreamShark has an excellent live support model, which gives us real-time support on live stream productions. Another feature we like is the Okta SSO integration. This makes it simple to manage access to the videos and streams.
• Our account manager, James Broberg, is an absolute pleasure to work with. He clearly has our goals in mind when he suggests the new features in our bi-weekly meeting.
• Additionally, the StreamShark support team, namely, Yudong, Robert, and Aakanksha drive our requests to completion in a timely manner.
• The look and feel of the GUI is user-friendly.

• WAF is hard to configure.
• No comprehensive rate limiting without a pricey upgrade.

• Channel support (see YouTube channels).

• Better reporting (see Zoom, i.e. advanced attendance logs, attention tracking).

Fastly Edge Cloud Platform is a powerful tool with robust capabilities, but it requires deep technical knowledge to integrate effectively into existing applications. While its performance and features are excellent, the lack of a user-friendly interface and the need for advanced configuration can make it challenging for teams without experienced developers.

The StreamShark Live Streaming Platform's easy-to-use. There are a few features that require learning, but this is expected.

The customer support from StreamShark is exceptional. Always very responsive and quick resolution which is often needed just before an event goes live.

It’s the fastest and most configurable.

I had been researching different virtual event s and streaming platforms and kept coming up against the same problems. They either couldn't be branded, the signup flow added friction and would have caused drop off, or quality of the stream was poor. It was also important that I was able to get data and analytics from the stream. This meant that embedded YT live was out of the question because embedded YT don't always count the views. StreamShark Live Streaming Platform allowed for a solve for all of these problems.

• Fastly dramatically reduces load times for clients all over the world thanks to their global system of POPs.
• Fastly is a cost-effective choice when a highly-performant CDN is required and makes it simple to support data that is quickly invalidated.

• This service has positively impacted the organization by allowing larger audiences to receive information and act on said information in a more timely manner. This equates to more productivity around the organization, as initiatives and objectives can be efficiently shared with remote attendees in all of our different office locations.
