FileCloud vs. Virtru

FileCloud is well suited for companies who want to utilize a cloud storage system but not use products such as Box or OneDrive. FileCloud allows the company to host everything on their own servers and have full administrative access to everything they need. If you don't have someone to manage a server, or don't need to have the granular admin access, this wouldn't be appropriate.

Of all the products out there that integrate with Google, we found Virtru to be the most user-friendly for both our users and the recipients. At the same time, its logging capabilities provide the trail we need for sensitive information. This is one tool for us that has generally been "setup and forget" which helps with the I.T. Dept workload.

• Access internal file server data from anywhere on the planet with an internet connection.
• Send out emails with expiration dates, password links, and access control.
• Ability to send out attachments that are over the email limits for downloading.
• It integrates with NTFS and Active Directory.
• Integration plugin for Outlook and Office applications.

• Email encryption without installing or exchange keys with the recipient.
• Email DLP that is easy to configure and maintain.
• Application Gateway that encrypts email sent directly from SaaS application (ex. Zendesk, SalesForce).
• Protect attachment with restriction like time, print, and copy.

• Native Google Docs file encryption should be improved, it's working great in Google Drive but only for files that are not Google native.

For the one sending/using, I rate a 10. For receiver experience, I would rate it 8, as sometimes there are hiccups. So overall, a 9

Their product is actively being updated and has better integration with the Mac platform which Varonis Datanywhere was lacking. In addition, the pricing is substantially cheaper than that compared for Varonis and FileCloud has more capabilities to sync, access, and download the data. Overall the comparison wins by far against one of their competitors.

Full Gmail integration was not a negotiable item for us in our evaluation. Other products provided our needed functionality, but they were outside the standard Gmail interface. That made them more difficult to use, and also less likely to be used. Virtru was the only one we evaluated that actually resided within the Gmail interface, making it very easy to use.

• Allowed us to share our files easily
• Allowed us to manage our cloud shares as we saw fit
• The need to uninstall/reinstall after every other update was a little time consuming
