Hitachi Command Suite vs. IBM Storage Insights

The new evolution of Command Suite into Hitachi Vantara Ops Center has greatly simplified working with the Hitachi Vantara Storage systems compared to previous management tooling. Use of the whole suite including Performance Analyzer makes managing the entire Hitachi storage ecosystem a full featured and more approachable task. I enjoy the completeness of the solution as well as the integration that they have begun to employ.

This product is highly recommended, first because it has a trial version that lasts 30 days, which is a good time to demonstrate the functionalities of this product to customers, in my case it has been very useful when we have a latency problem in the storage and we don't know the cause, I let the application run for a week and I have reports of all the storage components

• IBM Storage Insights has an excellent interaction with other IBM applications
• IBM Storage Insights Cloud storage is very secure
• IBM Storage Insights allows for the transfer of data between different data storage systems

• Pool management (still best done through SVP)
• Support for tags/attributes for storage resources would be a wonderful addition
• Reporting is minimal and difficult to use.
• Capacity planning (historical baselining + projection of organic growth) is a missing feature

• Android devices still requires IBM Storage Insights for outstanding functionality.
• Further, IBM Storage Insights has a complex interface, that requires adequate orientation.
• Besides, IBM Storage Insights is known to offer full service in terms of storage and other evaluating measures.

The interfaces are well designed and not overly populated with extraneous detail. Disparate but related feature sets are supported via separate interfaces that share a UX look and feel so that it doesn't feel like completely different panes of glass. Copy data management activity is still a bit clunky as it is accomplished via a re-purposed backup tool that was written to handle replicas, images and snapshots) but over all it is useable and has an interesting interface where elements are dragged onto the workflows.

Better reputation to start with, Hitachi appears to have (and thus hopefully will continue to have) great customer service for its products. Moreover, Hitachi Command Suite offered the most comprehensive, in terms of variables and aspects measured, functioning compared to its peers. Other software services were just as clunky, without the extra features, and without the customer service reputation, Hitachi has. So far I/we have been pleased with this selection.

IBM Storage Insights is competent in the amount of database the software can hold, with advanced external space, that makes companies balance the operations and control the analytics. Besides, IBM Storage Insights gauge the working capacity of software, by deploying accurate system controls and [validating] the security protocols. Finally, IBM Storage Insights has set terms that are perfect, reasonable, and committed to [helping].
