ITRS Geneos is an IT infrastructure, application, and transaction flow monitoring solution. It is targeted towards the financial industry and its data transaction and performance monitoring needs.
Icinga is a world-class monitoring system. It can be used for most general monitoring situations. It is not a silver bullet, however, and there are instances where domain-specific monitoring systems are necessary. However, the output from those monitoring systems can be funneled into Icinga as a central monitoring and alerting system.
Icinga is a solid solution which does everything it promises. It is backwards compatible with most Nagios instances, making the transition very easy. Once you get the hang of installing new plugins and editing configuration files expanding its monitoring capabilities are easy.
ITRS Geneos support is well managed by its wide variety of options like live chat, query submissions, 24/7 on-call support, self help and of course well-documented details about its features and troubleshooting methods. ITRS Geneos is being used by many big size organizations because it is a stable product with a good pool of knowledge available about it.
Icinga is better than Nagios because of its nicer user interface. New Relic can monitor CPU/memory and disk usage, but it's more of a performance and application troubleshooting tool rather than monitoring
Every tool that competes in the market with ITRS Geneos has its own capabilities and shortcomings. For our project, ITRS Geneos stands out since it is a stable product with a long history of serving large organizations with huge number of components to monitor. ITRS Geneos has upgraded itself to a new and better GUI interface and has offered integration with different tools.
