Kiteworks vs. Proton Mail

Kiteworks is very good for securely sharing files external to your company and doing so without your customers knowing who each other are. The interface is simple and relatively intuitive. We have had some issues in getting timely support from Accellion this past year, but they seem to be doing better lately.

Good if you like privacy and not having your data mined for advertizing and AI training.

• Secure encrypted email hosting
• Connection with Outlook works well
• Works well on all platforms: web, Windows, MacOS, Android, iOS
• Low monthly cost for email plus all the associated apps

• Encrypting our files appears to be less than 100% complete
• Software updates cannot be scheduled to take place automatically like their old product
• Detailed activity logging is not available to administrators. You must submit the logs to Accellion for analysis.

• Exporting email (which I like to do for archiving) is awkward and slow.
• Proton Mail Bridge (which allows access from other email readers like Outlook) sometimes has synchronization issues. Lately these just resolve themselves.

Mostly intuitive and easy to use. A bit harder if you stick with two passwords (one for the account and one for the encryption).

The main reason for selecting Kiteworks is that when sharing files with multiple customers, each customer has no idea who the other customers are. To do that in Teams would require users to create a private team for each customer, which would be very [time-consuming].

Proton had a wider offering of products like vpn and drive. I ended up paying for a yearly subscription, I liked it so much.

• Before then kitework we used 3 different products. It was expensive and difficult manage.

• Easy to link with my business domain and email.
