Liferay Digital Experience Platform (DXP) vs. Pimcore

Liferay Portal is a framework which comes with a fine grained security/permission model, (Web) Content Management, Authentication and Authorization, outbox portlets with different features to manage content or users. So if any business application has below questions then I can recommend not to use Liferay as a platform.

• Application is big but not content or user driven.
• Application with few static contents.
• Application with batch transactions(DB) i.e. insert , update db records in batch.
• Application with ERP capabilities.
• Application with Big Data support.

Pimcore is especially suitable for an organization that has a complex data model and processes that cannot be met easily with out of the box systems. It is especially helpful where data is lying in multiple legacy systems and needs complex integrations with these systems. It may not be the best choice for someone looking for and out of the box system with predefined features.

• Personalization
• Business to client relationship
• Customer management is better.

• Can have a better UI.
• The data delivery channel sometimes breaks.
• Analytics and reporting could be improved.

We are currently using Liferay Portal and plan to keep using it.

Liferay Digital Experience Platform (DXP) feels more professional than other similar products I tried or used. With this, I mainly mean the look or aspect when you are editing, setting or configuring anything in the platform, wether you are setting users, roles, creating new pages, adding components to them, or even configuring server or instance related configurations.

PIMCore is Digital Platform making it single source of truth for many upstream and downstream system. Akeneo is just PIM and its doing PIM job properly but PimCore is much more than this. AEM is too costly and can't be affordable for many small and mid size companies

• With the customers we have worked with, Pimcore has quite a positive impact on ROI.
• Pimcore systems have helped customers not only integrate their data but also improved data quality, greatly reduced their time to market and turn around time.
