Markup Hero vs. OctaneRender

For us, it's sending real estate setup sheets with multiple properties and lots of comments and feedback. It's great for quick feedback and shares. If I need to make a custom graphic tho its not quite powerful enough as Photoshop or other tools. The former is about 90% of my use cases, the latter only 10% so it's still worth it. But I can see they are adding more and more design oriented features so I suspect I won't need Photoshop much longer.

I have been able to import an environment and create realistic lighting rather quickly by using the power of GPU rendering. Paired with its ability to create instances of geometry, it makes it easy to render a megacity environment in half the time. One issue with this is the clutter that can be made with connecting nodes.

• Quickly adding annotations
• Sharing links to screenshots or marked up PDFs
• Always editable and accessible from any device

• Octane uses GPU rendering so it takes advantage of the video card.
• It gives you a good selection of options to tweak and refine your model rendering.
• It can use 3D instances so it doesn't overuse computer resources.
• There are plugins that can be incorporated into other 3D packages for rendering.
• Octane is particularly inexpensive compared to other 3D render packages.
• You are able to copy certain sections of nodes in order to create different iterations of the same environment or model. For example, changing the lighting or camera features.

• Teams is basic right now; looking forward to more permissions and team folders
• Love the insert image, but would like to be able to make my own library of images
• Needs rotate when uploading from my iPhone - they're sideways right now

• Its user interface could use some improvement.
• It is node-based so there is a slight learning curve when using it as a beginner.
• It doesn't import FBX files.
• It requires a 3D model to have UVs in order to import it into Octane.
• At times it may not be as stable.

Markup Hero stands out because it is truly web based and supports PDFs (among a host of other file types). The annotation tools are significantly smoother and always editable. I don't know of any other products that provide a web experience that allows for edits at anytime. Plus the team is clearly working hard to iterate the product and regularly delivering new features.

Although both have their pros and cons, Octane is far less expensive and it allows for more control over the geometry within a scene with better lighting and camera controls.

• Productivity - Save at least 30 mins per day per employee
• Organization - No more hunting through emails finding content I sent to someone
• Communication - My clients better understand our suggested properties when I add annotations.

• Octane has had a huge advantage of GPU rendering.
• It's relatively inexpensive compared to other rendering packages.
• It allows for more control over the scene compared to packages like Keyshot.
