Microsoft Defender for Identity vs. Trend Vision One Security Operations

Microsoft Defender for Identity is a great solution for each company that has an Active Directory. It fills in the blanks for Identity related incidents that are being missed in the XDR platform. To get a full view on identity risks it is an essential component

We were using Trend Micro Vision One as a demo and had a virus alert. Vision One gave us complete visibility into the incident and allowed us to easily perform incident response and glen up the laptop in question.

• setup can be complicated, with AD complexity
• Sometimes the load on DCs is pretty high, leading to performance issues
• Better tuning options for preventing false-positive/bening alerts

• It is a great product and continually improving.

Me and my team are using it every single day. We go over threats and vulnerabilities and try to fix it. Trend Vision One XDR has machine learning so it does a good job to learn the behavior of an end point and recognize if its normal or not, so its saves us from wasting time in some cases.

Microsoft Defender for Identity is more specialized on the Identity platform, it is a single solution compared to a multi-solution. The integration is better when using the XDR suite in combination with Sentinel. Microsoft Defender for Identity gives a better overview of the security posture

We had Trend Micro Apex One in the past and were quiet happy with it .I can't say about the price because its not my spot at our team but for my knowledge Trend Vision One XDR wasn't the most expensive overall. We also saw demo of the product and its abilities.

• Cost impact was pretty high
• Learning curve, needed time (money) for training
• Greatly improved detections and gives more insights

• It helped us close some security gaps
• We had PT and cyber and Information security audit, one of the things was to implement an better AV and XDR
