Microsoft Enterprise Mobility + Security vs. Univention Corporate Server (UCS)

Overall it is well suited to a mid size Enviromint with a limited staff. If you have a limited amount of time you can dedicate to solutions then having one that is by default already included in the system and can be managed well then it makes for fast integration with low overhead

Univention Corporate Server is well suited:

1. If an Organization would like to use it as a complete Active Directory Server.
2. If an Organization wants to deploy other applications which are important like SSO, Mail Server, 2FA etc., as with one click all these Apps will be integrated magically thus reducing the Admin job considerably.
3. Web based management which will be quite useful for the Admins who are from Windows background only.
4. Univention as a company which has close to 2 decades of experience.

• Complete replacement for MS Active Directory Server.
• Univention App Center - awesome concept with which Apps can be installed for the Domain.
• App Center can be compared to Google Play Store or Apple Play Store - Organizations can gain tremendous advantages.
• Plethora of Apps which are both free and paid and excellent apps for the Organizations.

• The subscription model (cost) could be revamped for perpetual licensing options

• As Univention is from Germany, lot of informative articles are in German but English articles are also good but less in number.

most features are pretty point and click simple. Some areas that are move detailed require some specialized training and knowledge to be able to navigate and get anything useful out of it. With some basic understanding you can gather tremendous amounts of data and have it available

EMS integrates directly with Office 365. It offers multiple desired features in one product/subscription. It's difficult to do a 1:1 comparison between each product. OneLogin's pre-sales support was terrible and implementation was complex. Barracuda offers great email protection but hard to justify the cost when EMS can just be added on to existing Office 365 accounts and brings additional benefit in SSO, etc.

We have evaluated Zentyal and ClearOS but we found out that UCS is more suited to every Organization.

• MFA has prevented a number of phishing attacks against our organization
• Endpoint management has allowed us to use autopilot to set up our devices far faster
• PIM has helped to secure our admin accounts
