When you start deploying dell servers that caters VMWares, [OpenManage Integration for VMware vCenter] is very useful, aside from your main monitoring system, this platforms does the job well. [Its] centralized management of VMWare devices including dell switches, dell storage such as SAN. By this you can group devices or set of devices per branches so you can monitor outages, down time of a device.

Well suited if you are looking to do containers, if you're looking for an easy way to build a container platform, there's so much in it to easily do that. Right now it's not as great as handling VMs with my aforementioned comments about how it can improve. So I would say it's low point right now it's the VMs, but it looks like they're improving. But the high point is always containerization.

  • Because of how different virtualization is done, there is a learning curve to overcome when switching to it from another hypervisor.
  • Documentation needs to be improved. Just finding the details to set it up is a burden that will keep some people using it.

OpenShift is really easy of use through its management console. OpenShift gives a very large flexibility through many inbuilt functionalities, all gathered in the same place (it's a very convenient tool to learn DevOps technics hands on) OpenShift is an ideal integrated development / deployment platform for containers

Things are clearly marked in the UI. Things do what they do. The UI is snappy and fast, so it can get a bit overwhelming at time with the amount of choices that you have, but they're clearly marked where you need to go, so I'd give it an eight

I've not noticed any significant performance impacts with Red Hat OpenShift. I think the development team has put a lot of effort into ensuring that it is performant. And so performance typically is not a major concern for us with Red Hat OpenShift.

I'm not sure any other product can interact and update Dell hardware firmware other than this one. I think it should be free if you own Dell hardware, but the cost is minimal.

Red Hat OpenShift is a more complete and integrated platform, with lots of out of the box components that the other platforms don't have, and customers need to stack lots of other software in order to have monitoring, cost management, log management, user policies governance, and more. Another great benefit Red Hat OpenShift delivers ir the supported operators.

Dell Technologies
  • This is very useful if you have dell products
  • Not suitable for other vendor

  • All of the above. Red Hat OpenShift going into a developer-type setting can be stood up very quickly. There's a very short period to have developers onboard to it and they're able to become productive much faster than a grow your own type solution.
