Rocket Servergraph vs. Sunbird DCIM

Data storage and provision of reliable backup plan is part of great services provided by this great product. It is the central reporting system that shows storage units and controls the data metrics that runs across our organization. It gives us the basic planning workbase for monitoring data pathways and performance details of our organization.

There are a few things that need work from flexibility within the asset process documentation. The interfacing with CMDB will be easier if the asset documentation had more flexibility in the standard fields. The product will support our need for a central depository of all assets, connections, and usage within our data centers, which at this time is managed by a spreadsheet with limited access. The ability to review and set goals of environmental and capacity has not been easy, with dcTrack this has become much easier than dealing with Excel tabs.

• Failed backup reporting is easily tailored to specific person, group or function
• The TSM console makes a novice admin more productive quickly as it builds the command syntax for you.
• Alerts when a backup system is down or a resource like a storage pool will soon require expansion
• Trend analysis and historical reporting support capital expenditures

• Inventory tracking.
• Capacity planning.
• Integration with PowerIQ - manages power, cooling and humidity status.
• Provide power and network/SAN connect paths.
• Statistics on the infrastructure within a given data center.

• It would be nice to have an administrator console for Networker and Datadomain the likes of the one in TSM which is so incredibly helpful.

• Connectivity simplified.

This is the most reliable platform that ensures that data is controlled successfully. It has helped our IT department utilize time used to monitor data storage disks manually. The overall cost of maintenance is lower as compared to other backup plans. It has reduced time taken for auditing our databases due to automatic data auditing system installed on this application.

• Less need for close backup system oversight so it frees resources for other tasks
• Found 50 plus tapes that were available scratches
• You can more confidently determine the need for backup resources throng the systems predictive analysis.

• Hard to say at this time what I will gain or the company will gain for the user but to understand all assets in a Data Center in a single location is a great tool for support and maintenance cost analysis.
• To be able to see or understand the power needs of a given location provides the need of understanding cost impact under the different location cost models.
