Symantec Data Center Security vs. Trend Micro ServerProtect

Clients that require hardening for Legacy systems, especially running business critical applications. Also when clients run business critical systems or systems exposed to public facing networks and need extra layer of defense for attack surface reduction. Lastly, works well for image building as well.

Would be careful for using DCS for systems where application owners or system administrators is not fully aware of what exactly is running on the systems since if policies are not properly scoped when building, it can break a system resulting in downtime, especially for critical systems. Lastly but not least, proper testing before enabling a prevention policy is a must have.

ServerProtect for storage users Standard APIs like ICAP ( Internet Content Adaption Protocol) & CAVA or RPC depending on who the manufacture is to provide access to this capability.

• It has been very effective at protection. Nothing has gotten by it in three years.
• It's pretty easy to install in agent based mode.

• Trend Miro ServerProtect required to improve to mange the logs collected from storage devices as some time false positives comes in picture .
• Pricing is based on per user Or Terabytes Storage, but in-case client wants users based say 50 users that should be competitive rather than multiply by per users ,their should be Slab pricing .

Usability is very well define but there is some extra work needed ,specifically regarding alerting and some HA and redundancy options that I would like to see

My experience with support has not been great. They really had lots of prerequisite work and information gathering requirements before really getting involved. I have no problem doing needed work but I just felt a support person could do things more quickly and spare me so much challenge that was unnecessary. The website has good access to updates and knowledge base information but it was a bit limited in scope.

DCS has such deep support for legacy and Non-legacy OS platforms like no other. It also has rich policy types with a simplistic UI to build and test these policies.
