Accounting Seed was my go-to solution for AP/GL/AR, ordersabd inventory management

Rating: 7 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I started using Accounting Seed at Alliance Data to automate mild accounting procedures like project accounting, cash in & cash out management, orders and inventory management. Accounting Seed isn’t used in all departments in my current organization since it doesn’t have enterprise accounting features.

Pros

  • Invoices are being sent electronically without having to use any paper.
  • Automating AP and AR has improved visibility in spending.
  • Distributing disbursement to employees and paying vendors on the time improve company trustworthiness.

Cons

  • Accounting Seed lacks on-premise applications for PC, tablet and smartphone.
  • Additionally, Accounting Seed is not rich in enterprise features, that is why we integrate it with external applications.

Likelihood to Recommend

I wouldn’t recommend Accounting Seed to enterprise companies. However, Accounting Seed is the best cloud accounting tool for small and medium-sized companies that are yearning to automate accounts payable and receivable, inventory management, and invoice customization in one integrated platform.

A Great Accounting Solution For Business

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using Accounting Seed in the accounting department and everyone in the department has access. What makes the software outstanding is the ease of integration with Salesforce. This integration makes it easy to handle accounting tasks and saves time as we can use the same data across the two software. While using the tool is easy, it has a long learning curve before any new user can get used to all the features of Accounting Seed and be able to fully benefit from its capabilities.

Pros

  • Accounting Seed is an affordable accounting solution
  • It offers many features making it an ideal accounting solution for business
  • The software integrates well with Salesforce
  • The software comes with a friendly User Interface

Cons

  • Drop-down search is slow and sometime may fail to find the results
  • Longer learning curve for new users
  • The reports are not always as details as everyone would wish them to be

Likelihood to Recommend

Accounting Seed is a great solution for businesses looking for reliable accounting software. It offers all the features needed and works as expected. In addition, it is not as pricey as many competitors and therefore a great choice. I would recommend it for both startups and established businesses.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Accounting Seed is used as our accounting software across the company. It integrates perfectly with SalesForce allowing us to have full integration across all sectors of the organization. When someone learns how to retrieve information via reports in SalesForce, they can run reports in Accounting Seed. All our accounting reports and project management reports come from Accounting Seed.

Pros

  • Fully integrated into SalesForce so financial information is linked to all aspects of the organization.
  • Customer service is excellent and with timely and helpful solutions.
  • Upgrades are announced well ahead of pushing them out. Accounting Seed handles all the effort. When upgraded, you are assured there are no problems with it continuing to work with your other applications in SalesForce
  • Being built on the Force.com platform, many applications are available to add to the Accounting Seed application to expand its abilities.
  • Customization is simple and integrates across all aspects of SalesForce.

Cons

  • I would love to see more predesigned reports.

Likelihood to Recommend

Accounting Seed is great for project management. Budgets can be done at the project level. Its full integration with SalesForce makes it a great cloud-based accounting solution for a small to mid-sized business.

Accounting Seed is a great Salesforce based Accounting Solution.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We purchased Accounting Seed to replace an out of date Great Plains program. We are a performing arts, non profit theater. We wanted a Salesforce based product as we currently use Patron Manager as our ticketing, donation and education sales program, and we specifically wanted a program that would allow our staff to move seamlessly between the multiple sides of our business.

Pros

  • When making a deposit for a donation we can tag the account record.
  • Anyone can recognize donors that are also vendors.
  • Extracting general ledger detail is accurate and easy - allowing us to ensure the GL matches revenue detail from donations, box office and education.
  • Budgeting is actually pretty nimble now that I am using it more.

Cons

  • Custom reporting seems cumbersome, but it could just be that we need better instructions, more examples, maybe some more canned reports. My company needs the ability to compare multiple years, and more than one budget in a report - we start with an approved board budget and then we reproject each quarter.
  • Non profits need to print financials by restriction level - this has also been very awkward - all the data is there but I have to piece it together in an excel spreadsheet every time I want it.
  • In general, the materials needed for non profits is not as accessible as it could be.

Likelihood to Recommend

The ability to see detail in the data is second to none. The ability to tie into the same data base as other salesforce products is huge. I do believe you need an on site expert. I have found my staff hesitant to "explore" the world outside of their routine. There are certain functions - like accounts payable - that are very similar no matter what program you buy, but it would be helpful if Accounting Seed put together some "Best Practices Procedures" for the A/P person to review and teach themselves. As the manager, it should not be up to me to have to retrain every person that steps into the position from scratch. How much nicer it would be to have something in the knowledge base or in the Accounting Home page that would direct new hires!

Accounting Seed grows your business garden!!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We were current users of Salesforce and were not happy with our existing separate accounting program. I felt Accounting Seed was the perfect fit and it has proven to be just that. We have it set up so only accounting staff have access to the program, but the fact that information flows out to Salesforce for our Sales staff to see and work from is priceless. Not to mention the flexibility and array of reporting features. We now are able to have reports auto generate to show profit/loss, reconciliations, etc.

Pros

  • Ability to create custom reports on the fly.
  • Sharing/flowing information across Salesforce project pages.
  • My favorite, saving tons of time by having all information in one location, not having to stop and compare Salesforce reports to a separate accounting program reports.

Cons

  • Sometimes when creating a receipt it can't seem to find the company I am searching for in the drop-down, I have to go out to the company and enter from there.
  • Some of the accounting reports seem to be limited, though at times this may just be the user! Still learning as I go! But there have been some reports that state I would need to add another partner app to do, which would mean more cost.

Likelihood to Recommend

Our main reason for switching to Accounting Seed was the idea of having all of our information in one platform. This allows constant real-time information on where we are at with cash flow, project costing, a/r, a/p, loss/gain on jobs, etc. When we set up a job in Salesforce we immediately set up a reconciliation linked to it, so we do billing to a customer on that job, or enter a payable against it. It shows in real-time on the job's page. I honestly can't think of a scenario where it would not be appropriate.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Accounting Seed as our accounting software, used by our CFO and his team.

Pros

  • Reports.
  • Customization.
  • Customer service.

Cons

  • A bit pricey, especially for start-ups.

If you live and breathe in Salesforce, this is for you. It's so great to not have to do double data entry, or even rely on an "integration". Being able to look up an account in Salesforce and see the related lists of all accounting info for that account is such a pleasure.
