Azure Backup is a cloud-based backup and recovery solution that can be used to protect data and applications running on-premises, on Azure, or in other cloud environments. Azure Backup helps us with various organizational needs. we use it to protect a wide range of data sources, including virtual machines, SQL databases, and file servers. Some common use cases for Azure Backup include: Protecting virtual machines running on AzureBackup of hosted SQL databasesProtection of file servers, including Windows and Linux servers.
  • Flexible backup options
  • Integrated with Azure services
  • Built-in security features
  • Scalability
  • Backup and Recovery Speed
  • Granular Control
  • Integration with Third-Party Tools
  • Cost Optimization:
Azure Backup is ideal for organizations that already use Microsoft Azure and want to back up their data to the cloud. It also works for hybrid IT infrastructure, with a mix of cloud-based and on-premises resources. Runs SQL Server workloads , Exchange, SharePoint and others. Azure Backup is not designed for complex backups.Azure Backup may not be the best choice for high-performance workloads that require near real-time backup and recovery

We backup on-premises physical machines and Azure virtual machines with Azure Backup. We also use Azure Site Recovery with a few clients and it has had to be used and saved the day. Azure backups are always rock solid.
  • Backup on-premises physical machines
  • Backup Azure virtual machines with Azure Backup
  • Restore from backups
  • Azure Site Recovery syncs servers to Azure for disaster recovery purposes
  • backup schedule calendar would be cool
  • Backup vaults should ask if you want to send notifications when you first set it up, there have been a couple of times when I noticed a month later that, backup job failures were not configured to send email notifications.
I sleep better at night knowing that we have Azure Backup configured. Having had to restore files and full backups multiple times I am confident in this solution. I would strongly encourage everyone with Azure to use Azure Backups, in fact, If they don't, I don't think I would want to do business with them.

To create backups for on-premises and on cloud servers. It is simple to use and the cost is affordable when compared to other backup solutions. It is all cloud-based.
  • Easy to setup on the client side.
  • Ready to use.
  • Storage has a competitive cost.
  • Supports cloud and on premises resources.
  • Support for more operational systems.
  • Deduplication
It is a robust solution that stores only modified data, this way it saves storage. It is really easy to use and the storage costs are one of the most competitive on market. It is handy even when the customer has nothing in the cloud and sometimes is the gateway to the cloud journey. You can use a backup set to restore a machine to the cloud, it can help business continuity.

It is used across all servers at the Enterprise level across [the] department. There is a lot of customization available in terms of the requirement that comes up around the user like Daily Backup for 6 Months or a combination of Daily, Weekly, and Monthly with having high Retention Policy which makes data restoration to a high extent.
  • Custom Backup
  • High SLA
  • Redundancy Options
  • High Retention of Data
  • Quick Snapshot
  • Customization in redundancy
  • Cross Platform Compatibility
  • Full Backup a lot Take Time which needs to be improved
For SAP and Server Backup we wanted extremely reliable options and a faster mechanism with better efficient backup. At that point in time, it was retaliated to prefer Azure Backup. For a server, we wanted a very Quick 1 Hour Backup for Daily [use] since it was very crucial data for those cases we have preferred Azure Backup.

We keep the backup of all critical systems working 24/7 in our Data Center and databases that are continuously transacted on the cloud side with Azure Backup. Azure Backup provides tier levels that cannot be provided by non-IT companies like us, far below the investment costs as a service.
  • Backup; Files, Folders
  • Virtual Machines, SQL Databases
  • Even Ä°mage Backups
  • There are more features than you need, just learn how to do it.
  • Really, it is constantly being developed, so I don't think of anything.
By using Azure Backup, you can back up your NAS device you use locally as a file server, virtual machines you use in [a] production environment, critical databases, and everything you can think of. I do not know if there are scenarios that are not suitable, it meets all my needs.

We have been using Azure Backups for the last 2 years, since we started migrating VM workloads to Azure. It's an excellent (and obvious) choice for 'simple' VM backups as it is very easy to implement and to administer. As a native feature from Azure, its integration to Microsoft products (such as Windows VMs and Azure SQL instances) is very good and reliable. It has a friendly user interface, compatible with the Azure visual identity and usage. Its implementation/initial configuration is straightforward, even for those who don't have much experience implementing and managing backup environments. Different from the more complex backup platforms/implementations, Azure Backup runs pretty well... We have almost zero 'backup job' failures. It just completes successfully every time.
  • Microsoft products (especially Azure) integration (Windows/Azure SQL instances).
  • Easy to implement and to administer.
  • Friendly interface, compatible to Azure visual identity.
  • Easy to back up and restore.
  • Relatively good backup performance.
  • Backup granularity (choose only some folders/files to backup).
  • Application awareness/consistency backups.
  • Better visualization of policies/schedules (it is not practical to go VM to VM to check the applied schedule).
  • Reports and metrics.
Azure Backup is very well suited for 'simple' VM Backups. Basically, if a snapshot works good for your server/application, than the Azure Backup will work for you. It is a full copy of the entire VM. If you need more complex backup configurations or granularity, then maybe it won't fit to your needs.

In the last 3 years, we started a process to use our servers in the cloud. We migrated several servers and chose to use Azure Backup for our environment. Azure Backup for safe and reliable disaster recovery. He brought us in a simple way and with a friendly interface, a backup solution for our servers and both Hyper-V or VMware environments. It is an environment with easy backup scheduling and cost effective. There was a significant cost reduction with traditional backups.
  • Product functionality and performance from Azure Backup
  • Your backup is not affected in the event of a virus attack in a production environment
  • Simple GUI interface make this service very attractive
  • Integrate azure backup with local Data Protector Manager, It will make a cost-effective
  • The need for high bandwidth
  • The time required to restore files should be a little faster...
  • Technical support is in need of improvement
  • Connection failures with some Firewall models
Azure Backup is suitable for companies of various sizes, with varying amounts of data. The cost of the investment should be thought out carefully so that there are no bad surprises with unnecessary files going to Azure Backup. The interface is friendly and easy to configure and it does not require your company to have a backup expert. It is highly recommended for companies with smaller number of servers and better if the servers are already running in an Azure environment.

We have used it for over two years in a scenario to perform backups of virtual machines, SQL databases, and data in general. The interface is excellent, clean, friendly, and easy to learn and use. Even local non-IT users can use it without problems. With this tool, backups and restores are easy and simplified.
  • Easily backup and restore virtual machines.
  • Friendly and clean interface and very easy to configure.
  • Integrations with other Microsoft products. Customizations.
  • Excellent documentation from Microsoft. The guides help and are easy to follow to set up.
  • Successful solution. No errors or bugs or problems.
What we like most is how easy it is to effectively backup and restore virtual machines. It can be done in the following ways: complete restoration, disk, and volume mounting on the local computer. It is a well-established solution in the market and a secure cloud with high availability and security.

We use Azure Backup to ensure that all of our own assets and those we manage for clients are fully recoverable with the proper RTO/RPO targets. The thing that is striking about Azure Backup compared to other cloud environments is how straightforward and simple the initial configuration is. In addition, it's not been my experience to find a straightforward utility designed around managing traditional backups on other major cloud platforms. I was expecting to have to do some of the custom scripting and scheduling that I needed to do in the past and was really happy to discover how easy it is to manage backups with Azure Backup.
  • Out-of-the-box simplicity.
  • Provides a single location to ensure backups are covered.
  • Perhaps makes users a bit more dependent on the UI of the service to use it.
  • The lack of detailed APIs makes it a little harder to integrate into an automation chain.
If you're looking to quickly establish backup schedules and need to quickly configure a set of new assets, Azure backup will work well. Azure backup works especially well if you're working with a standard set of needs around your scheduling, recovery, and distribution parameters. If you want to do more complicated integration into custom automation pipelines, some more web-services based providers might be a better fit.

If you have managed backups, then you know of all the sufferings you've dealt with, ranging from errors to insufficient storage, to permissions, checking consistency, deduplication, mounting backups to restore entire systems...or random files only. These routines cause significant stress and concern if you do not have your backups set up appropriately, or worse, use a system that does not give you these abilities. With Microsoft Azure in place, it only makes sense to use Azure Backup. The ability to directly tie a machine to a user, or backup media to a project or dataset, and easily deploy in your Microsoft network, is superb with Azure as opposed to other software that you will have to set up all of these items manually to finagle them to work properly. Being a Microsoft network, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Servers and Microsoft Exchange...adding Microsoft Azure is a clear recommended path and utilizing Azure for backups is a must in this type of environment.
  • Azure Backup is fast! Coupled with the fact that Microsoft created Azure and Windows - these two operate phenomenally together!
  • Administering the backups inside of Azure is a breeze. The ability to mount, restore entire backups, or recover files, has been made very easy. You do not have to download any media to recover something, you do this all in the cloud and it gets mounted in Microsoft's systems. Making this process less than a quarter of the time you would have spent with your 'other' backup solutions.
  • Having an admin console that you can use to manage backup schedules across your network would be useful. Going machine to machine to check the current settings is ok but would be better in a GUI.
  • Maybe an agent utility installed on each workstation where the user can specify or customize the backup, perhaps just a set of folders, or ignore certain folders, would be helpful to eliminate garbage in the cloud.
Azure is secure, one of the most secure cloud-based user management software that easily and thoroughly connects to Microsoft Active Directory. Microsoft does a tremendous job at redundancy across their data centers and data itself inside each data center. This gives you the knowledge that regardless of what happens to one building, all your data is safe in Azure. Azure backups are very fast and work well with QOS in your network to allocate resources to other important tasks rather than a backup. Not everyone is a GUI user, many of us techs prefer to use Powershell commands to manage, setup, troubleshoot systems and data. As Microsoft owns all of this, Powershell is a quick way to get access to your data in the cloud and issue any needed commands to your system(s) in bulk or one at a time. If you have a complete Linux or Mac environment, you may want to consider another solution as much of what Azure Backup offers is best used with Windows.

Azure backup is in many different deployments and environments. We use it only for infrastructure in Azure. Azure backup is used for our customer environments as well as internal Azure environments. Azure backup addresses the need for a consistent and reliable backup solution in Azure that has the ability to snapshot/protect the entire VM.
  • Relatively quick backup times.
  • Protects the entire VM as well as file system/app consistent backups.
  • Restoring from Azure backup is a whole new VM deployment instead of just a VM restore.
  • Not as many metrics available for deep dive/analytics.
Azure Backup is well suited for infrastructure in Azure. Azure backup is built into the platform and comes at no additional costs (you are charged for the storage, however), it is very easy to configure and get going. Azure backup is easy to work with when needing a restore and ties into the Azure platform really well.
