Overall Satisfaction with Azure Backup
In our organization, Azure Backup serves as the primary cloud‑based data protection solution for safeguarding Azure‑hosted workloads. We use it to ensure that our critical systems, databases, and virtual machines remain recoverable in the event of accidental deletion, corruption, ransomware attacks, or full‑scale disaster scenarios. Azure Backup provides automated, policy‑based backups for our VMs, file servers, application servers, and databases.
Pros
- Azure Backup excels at protecting both cloud and on-premises workloads, enabling organizations to adopt a unified backup strategy.
- Azure Backup performs application‑consistent backups, capturing full application state, including in-memory data and pending transactions.
- Azure Backup requires no backup servers, appliances, or tapes. Azure Backup includes multiple built‑in ransomware mitigation features.
Cons
- Still Missing or Delayed Support for Some Workloads.Azure Data Lake Storage, Elastic SAN, PostgreSQL Flexible Server.
- Missing coverage for Teams, Power Platform, and fast recovery.
- Backup management still time-consuming in practice.
- We eliminated on‑prem backup hardware, tapes, and offsite logistics.
- Risk reduction & resilience.
Azure Backup’s biggest advantage is seamless integration with Azure workloads, identity, networking, storage, monitoring, and automation. Advantage: - No extra infrastructure -Unified identity (Azure AD) -Integrated monitoring (Azure Monitor / Backup Center) - Policy-based scaling across subscriptions.
