Brandfolder is so powerful and efficient it is like another staff person
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
We use Brandfolder as our cloud based digital asset management system. We say that Brandfolder is like another fun time staff on our team. The ease of use, onboarding, organizing, sharing, and adding detail to our assets is amazing. We love that all types of media can be easy stored, organized and shared to anyone we want inside and outside of our organization easily and quickly. Their templating system is amazing that our designers can use Adobe products to design and layout pieces but allowing users to edit certain parts of the piece. The asset system is awesome that you can stack multiple files together which is great when you want to keep media releases and caption files with a video or multiple PDF versions stacked together. This keeps the view for the users clean but you can keep connected files together. We are able to add a ton of information about each asset in the description field as well.
Pros
- Templates built in Adobe Indesign
- Assets sharing
- Collections to further curate assets
- Asset descriptions to easily link to other asset locations
- Stacked files to keep like files together
Cons
- It would be nice to relate assets together to connect photos to a print piece
- Attach files to multiple assets like a media release to multiple assets
- Color code file types
- The ability to change the grid size
Likelihood to Recommend
It is so well suited for a cloud based DAM. It's loads so fast, works well in every browser. With remote work now it is so easily for our team to upload, organize, share, and view analytics on our assets. The best feature is the templating system which allows your designers to take what they design in Adobe Indesign and denote which areas are editable and it keeps the formatting, style, and fonts to the end user. The only other options on the market would require the designer to rebuild the design on a separate platform like Canvas. I wish the platform did more to help with handling videos. It doesn't display the runtime on a video, the specs, or play captions inline with the video. I also wish it would do media pushing to social media platforms.
