ChromeOS or Windows

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

ChromeOS is used as the main operating system. It has better security than other platforms. We work remotely so it is helpful to be able to interact with team mates and work directly with them. There are so many apps that we can use that allow us to work side-by-side and provide most up-to-date information. We use it to track calls as well as update customer accounts in real time.

Pros

  • Great security
  • real time updates
  • trackable production
  • automatic updates

Cons

  • online suites are not as good as traditional programs
  • cannot work when not online
  • non-google related programs are not as accessed well

Return on Investment

  • ROI is approximately 150% compared to windows
  • We do not have to purchase separate security suite
  • Reduced cost of operation due to less problems with OS

Great OS for Everyday Tasks

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are a Google company so we Google Chrome is our default browser of choice. Not only does it seamlessly integrate to our Okta instance, allowing for a streamlined authentication process, it makes access controls super easy to manage. Additionally, since we mostly use Google products, it integrates with their products better.

Pros

  • Native apps (GDrive, GDocs, GSheets, etc.)
  • Seamlessly integrates with our authentication SSO provider

Return on Investment

  • Positive: Very cost effective solution to get laptops out to everyone on the team
  • Positive: Easy to manage UI/OS
  • Negative: Can be sluggish once you get into apps that require more GPU
