Well, I work for broadcast media ( News Channel). I use Cinema 4D for motion Graphics. It's amazing software of you want to create dynamic animation. You can create dynamics with ease, Whereas in other software it takes a lot of time and is very complex. I simply love this software, it's quick and simple the best motion graphic 3D software I have ever used. I have been working as a motion graphic designer for the past 15 years and trust me it's a blessing.

  • Fast rendering
It's awesome if you want to create dynamic animation. It's a blessing for a motion graphic designer. The best part is you can take its scene to compositing software easily. It's very simple compared to other 3D software.

  • Value for money
Well, I go for cinema 4D if I want to create dynamic animation instead of Autodesk 3ds Max as I can easily create that animation compared to Autodesk 3ds Max.

I’m we create training videos that sometimes require special effects to make them most impactful. We also use the program to create representations of important processes and equipment that may not be available to film. The tools gives us flexibility with our timing and approach to producing multiple types of training content.
  • Strong interface
  • Good set of tools and features
  • App runs efficiently
  • Rendering times
Cinema 4d has all of the tools you’d need to accomplish even professional looking animations and renderings. Depending on what you do, it may actually be overkill, but having extra features and not using them isn’t really a problem in my book. Better to have them and be able to experiment than not!
  • Strong integration with AE
  • Producing quality training content reduces mistakes and improves ebitda for our restaurants

We used Cinema 4D in local TV commercial spots that NO-ONE else in the competition could compare to. They were using stock graphics, we were killing it with Cinema Animations that were brand related. The difference was insane and the clients kept hiring us at higher rates than anyone else was getting because of it.

Photorealistic Rendering (it takes a LONG time to render for print, but it's insanely realistic).
Commercial Production
Graphical Integration into print materials (and digital) We did a lot with brochures and billboards. Hi Res rendering takes hours, but the output set us FAR apart from the run-of-the-mill competition we had.
  • Able to get ideas on page fast
  • Quality Lighting
  • Smooth animation
  • Render quality at higher resolutions
  • Positive ROI - no one else in the area was using anything remotely close to what it was capable of...so they always chose us
  • Negative - It was crazy expensive each year
Great integration with After Effects made editing seamless and quick. It was a steep learning curve but not as tough as others in the market. Coupled with the AE integration, it was the tool that made the most sense.

As a side note, I used Cinema a lot for artwork (non-work) that I'd create. I is the most fun (and beautiful) program I've ever used.

Cinema 4D has been used in for graphic design and animation, though an atypical use, it still worked well for our needs. After you know the interface, Cinema 4D has a great platform that enables us to quickly create a quality end product but still has the power and flexibility to create world class work.
  • Seemingly endless selection of tools
  • clear and powerful manipulation tools
  • effect use of hotkeys for navigating the 3D space
  • Render windows could be better organized and clear (mostly for new users)
  • Implementing quick lighting templates
  • Possibly using a "real world" unit of measure
Cinema 4D is perfect when you need to create top notch texture and animation. Current integration with After Effects makes it even more accessible. When cost is a concern, there are other options that would be more economical and, with maybe a little more work, could create a comparable end product.
  • Powerful Export options
  • Quick modeling tools
  • Integration with AfterEffects
  • Flexibility of styling and modeling
  • quality light and texture rendering
  • quick modeling tools saves time
I've found other modeling programs to be cumbersome and difficult to wrap your head around at first. While Cinema 4D isn't an "install and run" kind of program, it does lend itself to being easily learned without the expense of being limited or beginner focused. The integration with After Effects is also a big selling point.

C4D is used for 3D product video animations, marketing renders, and virtual reality asset creation and optimization. It seamlessly ingests engineering files and allows for far more complexity than 2D-only videos. With plugins like X-Particles, we can simulate air and waterflow, a core function of many of our data center products.
  • Stability.
  • Ease of use.
  • Compatibility with plugins and render engines.
  • Weak UV mapping interface.
  • Redshift integration is not 100% seamless yet.
  • Weight-mapping is a nightmare.
C4D has one of the gentlest learning curves and highest responsiveness of any 3D package. New version releases are characteristically ambitious without sacrificing cleanliness of interface or usability. It's best suited for 3D animations and virtual reality efforts, as well as 3D compositing for film. It also very efficiently supports physical simulation plugins (X-Particles, turbulenceFD, etc.) and has a robust motion graphics module lending itself to quick and fun experimentation. Character animation can be a struggle through dozens of necessary plugins, but 3D character animation in general is as hard as it gets in this field.
  • Virtual Reality efforts are a huge hit at events and among investors and customers.
  • 3D Animation projects have been halved as far as time spent vs. previous preferred package (3DS Max).
C4D is more responsive with an interface that works better for me. It is just as widely supported by render farms and plugins, so it edges out primarily on usability and speed. New users will not find 3DS Max intuitive, although I'm sure seasoned users find it very natural.
For reasons mentioned before: an intuitive interface and speed of the viewport, speed of loading, and ease of plugin integration. The MoGraph module encourages experimentation and the creation of highly modifiable scenes. Crashes are extremely rare and the support team and community are hyper-responsive to requests for help. For real... Maxon's staff hangs out in Slack and Discord communities, regularly assisting users with issues. No support ticket required.
Maxon's staff regularly hangs out in Slack and Discord communities, ready to assist. This goes beyond the support ticket system, which is also extremely robust. Hundreds of optimizations and bugs are fixed in every patch, even when the user experience is already 99.9% smooth. This is a proactive, not reactive, support and engineering team at Maxon.
