What is Conviva?
The most important insight created by Conviva is Stream ID™. Data is much more valuable when it can tied it identity. Identity is a massive challenge for much of the industry. And critically, the Stream ID™ created from the Stream Sensor™ doesn’t just add data but enriches it from other sources, including data in a CRM system, from first party subscriber data, and experience data, and not just data from the streaming ecosystem but from the rest of the ecosystem as well. Publishers can use Stream ID™ for marketing and advertising use cases such as improving content recommendation, audience targeting, streaming measurement, and gaining deep audience insights.
Stream ID links multiple devices to a single household based on anonymized publisher data that excludes cookies and device identifiers. The vendor states that in tests, it’s been found to be up to 3x more accurate than third-party or internal graphs.
Building the Stream ID
Stream ID™ is created by analyzing streaming behavior patterns aggregated across multiple apps and devices collected by the Stream Sensor™. It starts with cleansing the data and identifying IPs that can be matched to a residential household. For each app installation, Conviva’s SDK creates a client ID. Conviva’s proprietary machine learning graph algorithms cluster client IDs into households based on the identified primary IP. The output of the model maps household IDs with a group of client IDs.
Stream Sensor
The Stream Sensor provides comprehensive, real-time, cross-device collection of streaming data—which is then cleaned, standardized, and normalized—to provide accurate information about an entire streaming audience. Users can map viewers’ consumption, democratize content data, and turn video insights into action.
The Stream Sensor integrates directly into an app or video player and measures second-by-second viewership of content and ads, including content, device, geo, and ad metadata. Each raw video data event is transformed into a fully formed video stream with rich metadata and contextual awareness that powers analytical models.
Stream CDP
Stream CDP™ connects first-party data, data from the Stream Sensor and Stream ID, and data from the entire ecosystem, so the user has real-time analytics and insights for quality of experience, advertising, content, customer intelligence, and social media. On top of this is an array of APIs that are purpose-built for almost every use case in the enterprise from customer care to marketing automation, CRM, and advertising.
