Dashlane - Intuitive secure and reliable

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Dashlane for storing all mission critical passwords, shared passwords, and secure notes.

It is very helpful with the app and browser extensions; we actively use it with Chrome and Edge.

We have deployed Dashlane for all managerial staff and it has been a tremendous help in not only keeping their passwords safe, but also generating new, randomized passwords.

Pros

  • Storing secure notes about server access and specifics to projects
  • Generating random, strong passwords for a variety of sites
  • Sharing generated passwords with leadership for shared site access

Cons

  • Honestly, I have used Dashlane on iOS, Android, and windows with Chrome and Edge - all instances have worked well.
  • I would like a longer log in period on devices than 14 days - using 2FA

Likelihood to Recommend

We access 3 websites that have shared credentials. I am able to share the username and passwords with admin and also update when it is time to change a password. This allows each of us to access the sites as needed and know that passwords are always current.

Versatile Password Manager with Bonus Features

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Within our organization, we use Dashlane for payment and password storage. Previous to implementing Dashlane, we had a password sheet that sat on the common drive. This system was not secure and left us vulnerable to both external and internal malicious attacks. Additionally, having the ability to store payment methods, identification, and other secure information is useful.

Pros

  • Encrypted security
  • SSO
  • autofills
  • Easy password updates

Cons

  • Some autofill fields do not detect when information is imported from Dashlane.
  • Proactive reminders and actions to improve security
  • More efficient synchs between mobile and desktop apps

Likelihood to Recommend

I could see Dashlane being useful for organizations that have multiple departments. Having the ability to automatically share passwords throughout the entire organization versus sharing with individuals or groups is a great feature. For organizations that do not share platforms or licenses, Dashlane may not be the solution for them, at least not an enterprise or business account. Many of Dashlane's features would be underutilized.

Seamless, easy to use

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

My organization used Dashlane Password Manager to help our associates create super-secure passwords and store them in a safe, easily accessible place. Dashlane has a browser extension that my organization pushes to all our devices, so we can easily create, store, and share passwords securely across teams with the convenience of a super-simple, integrated plug-in.

Pros

  • Auto fill existing passwords or quick prompt to create new secure passwords so it's almost mindless
  • Creating really strong, unique passwords
  • easy password sharing across teams

Cons

  • On almost any form, the Dashlane icon would show up to auto fill for a password even if you weren't prompted to provide one
  • Bulk downloading your login information was kind of hard so if you want to migrate to a new service it's not that easy
  • Dashlane didn't organize the passwords once they were saved in your password vault. This is nit picky, but it would be nice to separate logins based on function. Ex. Banking logins in a banking section and shopping logins in another

Likelihood to Recommend

I think Dashlane is a great service for anyone who uses the internet. We need to create accounts on almost every website, and Dashlane helps generate secure passwords and store them safely, but easily accessible through its seamless browser extension. Any business or personal lifestyle can benefit from Dashlane when you go online.

Passwords - Managed

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Password Management
Password Generator
Payment Info Storage
Password Health Monitoring
Personal and Business Space
Dark Web Monitoring
We have been able to reduce the risk of passwords being stored in the browser password manager and prevent users from handwriting and posting login credentials at their stations. The ability to have the app available on mobile devices and the extension in browsers are very convenient. The added benefit to being able to enable VPN is also great since our remote users that do not need access to the company network can still be protected behind a VPN.

Pros

  • Separation between Business and Personal Spaces
  • Complex Password Generation that can match the requirements
  • Encryption - to everyone. If you forget your Master Password... too bad. Enabling account recovery is the only way to allow the user to regain access. Admins cannot reset passwords, just approve recovery requests.
  • Dark Web Monitoring
  • Password Health Monitoring per person and the overall health of the company.

Cons

  • When a user logs in using the prompted Dashlane Password Manager, but the application prompts for Security questions... and the user enters them, do not prompt to save the entry as a new 'password'. That confuses end users then the get further confused since they didn't realize they changed the password in their Dashlane Password Manager.
  • Cost is high.
  • Unless the user is monitoring their Password Health in the App, they don't realize how their overall password health is impacting risks.

Likelihood to Recommend

Dashlane Password Manager is very well suited for the security management and complex encryption requirements.

Other than the prompting to populate fields an an in an inappropriate field and then prompting to update password when a user is only entering security questions, this is and overall very good product.

The cost is a concern for scaling a company.

An outstanding password manager

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Dashlane allows us to securely store passwords and to generate secure passwords across devices. We share passwords between users.

The ability to have a vault that is personal as well as one that is that is connected to work accounts allows the admin to control the credentials that below to company accounts while allowing the users to store personal passwords as well.

Pros

  • Security
  • Ease of use
  • Easy account management

Cons

  • There is always room for improvement in terms of how it completes forms. Some sites are more frustrating, but that is far less likely than the ones where it works well.

Likelihood to Recommend

If I were an admin in another company, I would recommend using Dashlane to management. We have used it for several years and have really enjoyed the experience. The ability to use it on multiple devices and browsers is critical. With so much work happening on mobile devices, the ability to use your saved passwords adds to the ease of use as well as overall security.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Dashlane Password Manager acts as a password and payment method manager. I use it to store my passwords and autofill in websites. The app helps to keep secure passwords and easily shares with coworkers. Also helps with payment and autofill. Works as a vault for password sharing as well and darkweb monitoring of email adresses.

Pros

  • Password keep
  • Payment Keep
  • Password sharing

Cons

  • Autofill settings
  • ios app better integration
  • better understanding fields to autofill

Likelihood to Recommend

Works well to keep password and works most of the time. The main problem is for when it tries to autofill fields that should not be filled with either password or email adresses and there is no way to indicates that the app should not fill those fields. It can be frustrating.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our organization provides all team members with a Dashlane Password Manager Account to use primarily as a credentials manager. Our organization interacts with many business partner web portals and SaaS tools that require user authentication and Dashlane Password Manager helps Users ease the burden of remembering so many different sets of credentials and creating strong passwords.

Pros

  • Automatic Login to SaaS applications and websites
  • Generating Strong Passwords
  • Coaching Users on Weak / Reused passwords

Cons

  • Depending on the site's login workflow, the password manager can get confused with when/where to provide credentials or extra information
  • The autofill feature can be annoying to close sometimes and sometimes blocks access to fields on a website

Likelihood to Recommend

Does a good job at storing credentials, monitoring passsword strength, suggesting strong passwords and providing users the ability to share passwords with Trusted team members. The auto-login feature is a real time saver. The Auto-complete feature could use some work though, the pop-ups when completing webforms get annoying when they pop-up without prompting.
