What is Datto Switches?

Datto Switches are designed by Datto to provide affordable and high-performance switching for small and medium businesses. According to the vendor, these cloud-managed switches offer robust switching performance and are targeted towards IT Managed Service Providers (MSPs), network administrators, small business owners, as well as businesses in the retail and hospitality industries.

Key Features

Full PoE on Every Port: According to the vendor, Datto Switches come with built-in support for PoE+ on every port, allowing for up to 30 watts of power per port. This enables the powering of multiple IP devices such as VoIP phones, wireless access points, and IP cameras.

Zero-Touch Deployment: The vendor states that Datto's Network Manager eliminates the need for local setup. Simply connecting the switch to power and an Internet connection will automatically detect the switch and start reporting data.

Cloud-Managed Switching: Datto Networking Switches are completely cloud-managed, according to the vendor, eliminating the need for on-site appliances. This simplifies network management and enables remote configuration and monitoring from a single cloud-based interface.

Robust High-Performance Switching: The vendor claims that Datto Switches deliver enterprise-level switching performance for small and medium businesses, providing reliable and high-speed connectivity for devices and users on the network. They support features such as VLANs, port trunking, port mirroring, and flow control.

Power Management with PoE: Datto Switches offer flexible power management options for each port, according to the vendor. This includes power on/off per port, power class configuration, power feeding with priority, and user-defined power limit. They also support IEEE 802.az Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) for power savings.

VoIP Phone Support: According to the vendor, Datto Switches deliver the necessary PoE for IP phones and support Voice VLAN and QoS (Quality of Service) to ensure optimal voice communication. They are fully compatible with VoIP provisioning standards like LLDP-MED.

Crafted for Control: Datto Switches are available in 8, 24, or 48 port models to fit any network configuration, as stated by the vendor. They are designed to meet the needs of small and medium businesses and support multi-gig configurations for high-performance Wi-Fi access points and workstations.

Just Plug & Play: The vendor claims that deployment is easy and hassle-free with Datto Switches. The cloud configuration eliminates the need for manual setup, allowing users to simply plug the switch in and it's ready to go.

Network Cloning: According to the vendor, once a network configuration is set, it can be easily deployed to new networks. This simplifies the setup process for multiple networks and saves time and effort by replicating existing configurations.

Auto-Firmware Management: Datto Networking's Auto-Firmware Management, according to the vendor, schedules firmware updates from the cloud to the networking device. This ensures that switches are always up to date with the latest firmware, reducing the risk of vulnerabilities and improving overall performance.

Used it as a good value PoE switch, to manage Wireless Access Points. No brainer at the time to get this vs injectors. The best part is that it's cloud managed and can report basic power usage. There are non managed options for about the same price. lifetime warranty is also a plus.
  • managed ports via the cloud
  • easy to deploy and managed
  • advance replacements on warrenty items
  • cleaner web gui
good value for PoE switching for simple devices like cameras and wireless access points. easy to deploy from remote and easy to toggle ports
  • value
  • easy to deploy
  • if the client does not pay up, can disable the device and "soft brick" the device
lower end of the spectrum of managed switches but good deal for simple devices like wireless access points or cameras.
