In our organization, we use Db2 To process huge amount of data in short time. We need to have it always current, without any delays. We need to have also secure setup and resiliency on both hw and software

Db2 is our backbone to our IT Infrastructure as we have all our Corporate and Client data in Db2 on Mainframe. Db2 perfectly address the business problems of need of keeping data available 24X7, in a secure way, be self resilient and wonderful Business value insights from Large data pool. Scope of our Use case is to make use of Db2 for specific Business purposes as Relational Database Management System

Pros

  • Resilience - Db2 for z/OS 13 has capacity to be self resilient. Example in case if abends and it is brought up it has capability to resolve the issue which caused the abend in certain cases
  • Security - Db2 for z/OS 13 has updated features like profile etc to meet Security Baselines
  • Business Insights - Db2 supports many means of getting valuable Business insights from the huge- data

We tore the vast majority of our data on Db2 and is handled with hundreds of developers across multiple different teams thousands of times throughout the day. This product has been fantastic for handling our vast amounts of data for the healthcare industry and allows for easy to query tables. We trust Db2 to handle PHI of millions of people throughout Alabama and multiple other states and couldn't be happier!
