Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have a backend service which provides APIs that are restricted to US. The engineering team at my company is mostly operating out of India. ExpressVPN helps the India team to connect to a US location which enables them to test and troubleshoot the APIs of our backend service. Some merchant web pages are also restricted to US. By using ExpressVPN we can access these web pages for validation purposes.

Pros

  • Easy to connect to any location in the world
  • Perform speed test on a particular VPN location
  • ExpressVPN is supported on mobile

Cons

  • Faced intermittent audio / video quality issues when attending Google Meet calls with ExpressVPN connected
  • Express VPN can have a feature to randomise the source IP address like a residential proxy so that repeated access to multiple URLs of a particular merchant domain don't get blocked due to rate limiting
  • Speed test results are not available during the test. They are only available at the end of the test.

Return on Investment

  • Engineering team members can work from remote locations which helps companies reduce their operational costs
  • It helps team members access web pages which are otherwise not available due to location restrictions
  • It is easy to use so team members don't have to spend any extra time to use this

  • Easy to use.
  • Easy to set up.
  • Works as intended.

Cons

  • A better price point - it's not prohibitively expensive, but I'm not buying it again at that price point without a pressing need.

  • Hotel Wi-Fi is notorious for tracking guest browsing activity. This allows safe browsing.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use ExpressVPN, among others, throughout the world for our end users which are all over. It helps to secure links out of many different countries. There are many different locations we use it from, throughout USA, Europe, and Asia, as well as couple locations in mid-east, occasionally. We have it accessing our office product subscription and other in-house tools from these locations.

Pros

  • client software setup is super easy
  • multiple platform support is very good
  • customer service is mostly good

Cons

  • customer service is both good and bad. it really depends on who you get.
  • it cant be used inside some of the countries we work in

Return on Investment

  • not being able to get thru the gfw causes undue support calls to our internal IT
  • not being able to get thru the gfw causes us to have to buy subscriptions for multiple other vpn services
  • the hit-or-miss tech support competence reduces our employees faith in the product

Pros

  • ExpressVPN was easy to install, and simple to connect to a VPN network.
  • ExpressVPN is available for multiple platforms and multiple browsers.
  • The price is reasonable for the added level of security it provides.

Cons

  • I would like the disconnect to be instantaneous. It is not.

Most Important Features

  • Connectivity speed. The VPN did not slow me down.
  • Plugins for Firefox and Chrome were essential.

Return on Investment

  • My customers are happy that I am using every security measure available. Increased sales.
  • Productivity has not decreased, while security level has increased.
  • The initial cost was reasonable.
