My experience using Fieldwire

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Fieldwire as a tool to take field measurements and take photos. The biggest problem it is solving on our industry is being able to document the field measurements with relevant photos of the existing condition under same task.

Pros

  • Categorizing the Tasks
  • Dropping as many pins as needed to take measurements and attach photos and videos
  • Easily upload the relevant plans and it creates hyperlink for the relevant sections and details

Cons

  • Editing on Scribble with phone is very difficult and if I don't save it at least once, my work is lost, and I have to redo it.
  • When I forget to put the name of the task, it itself puts the comment I inserted as the title. I would like it to notify me somehow
  • Fieldwire acts weird with ipad sometimes. If the plan is rotated while uploading and I use that plan to take photo in the site, I need to keep on rotating my tablet (a total of 3 times) to take photo. Still, the uploaded photo turns out to be upside down on computer.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is best suited to take initial and detailed fieldwork. I usually take snapshot from google earth for my 1st site work (proposal phase) to exactly pinpoint the location and take photos. It is easier to use them and explain to coworkers.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Fieldwire to enhance the exchange of information between the office and field, quality control, real-time access to project information such as drawings, RFIs, submittals, and documentation. The mobile app is invaluable in the field.

Pros

  • Quality control, tagging a picture on the drawings is particularly helpful.
  • Assigning tasks to field personnel.
  • Having all pertinent files instantly accessible for review from the field.

Cons

  • At times it is difficult adding new drawings and keeping everything organized as I would like.

Likelihood to Recommend

We are an electrical contactor and Fieldwire has exceeded my expectations. I personally am still learning new things, but my guys in the field are showing me new things all the time. We have added new licenses and expect to continue adding more users.

Easy job management software that helps productivity

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used Fieldwire to manage long-term projects. We found the need to find project management software to help us better organize and deploy our projects and share project information and timelines with our field techs and engineering teams. This software was deployed in place to close gaps and improve productivity.

Pros

  • Excellent documentation and sharing of data.
  • Easily used by field techs and provides two-way communication.
  • Easily able to revise drawings in the field.

Cons

  • The software can freeze sometimes.
  • The mobile app does not work well when you have low cell service.
  • No option to export old versions of prints.

Likelihood to Recommend

We used Fieldwire to increase our overall productivity for our engineers and for our installers and techs in the field, so our techs could have everything in front of them when needed. Sometimes the software can be dependent on cell service and when in a remote construction area it becomes hard to pull the information.

Cons

  • The ability to mark up photos after uploaded

Likelihood to Recommend

Fieldwire is excellent for anyone who needs to view and consult drawings as part of their job. Anyone on a construction site can benefit from using Fieldwire.

Area Man Ecstatic About Fieldwire

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Fieldwire is used by our installation crew and project managers. We use this platform to communicate our building plans to crew members. Crew members can communicate back with our team or others outside the platform. This solves many issues common to construction, such as plan version control and RFC and RFI requests. Fieldwire is indispensable for troubleshooting issues. All of my service crew have every single set of plans in their pockets at all times.

Pros

  • Communicating RFI and RFC requests from crew to management.
  • Easy to use mobile format for crew.

Cons

  • I wish more trades used it.
  • If it was cheaper, I would have more users.

Likelihood to Recommend

Fieldwire is perfect for any company that utilizes plans and markups. It allows our field staff to have all the info needed and to make reports or add photos to our plan archive. This can also ensure the plans we are using are the most current version. End-of-day reports give our office staff an excellent window onto the progress of a job.

A must-have for construction and design professionals

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Fieldwire is used throughout our entire firm to expedite and organize field data collected during site inspections and forensic investigations. We utilize the software to document construction deficiencies and create timelines, progression reports and forensic documentation of a building deficiency from start to finish. This data can then be used to implement repair protocols during restoration.

Pros

  • Organizes data for individual tasks in one location.
  • Provides access to all team members, allowing fluid teamwork.

Cons

  • The software is geared toward general contractors. We are actively providing feedback to gear it toward engineers, architects, and design professionals.
  • I would like to see more options for mark-ups.

Likelihood to Recommend

Fieldwire is great for construction management, site investigations, insurance claim investigations, and situations where multiple team members are inspecting a single property or building. Fieldwire is not really necessary for single professionals inspecting one deficiency. It is much more useful and applicable for larger scale, multiple task work.
