Instana exceeds expectations in microservice-heavy architectures where multiple databases, APIs, and middleware layers interact. It's a great solution to monitor end-to-end transaction flows across customer onboarding, payments and claim systems. We monitor performance changes immediately after each deployment, helping our DevOps team roll back or fine-tune builds quickly.

We use IBM Instana to monitor real time critical payment transactions and leverage IBM Instana's 1 second granularity with a full cross-systems application Journey. it's propietary sensors support a lot of the current technology stacks being used no matter if on premise, or on the cloud and they are easy to configure and provide automated discovery insight which you can take advantage of the application perspective and create your own app story and what it should keep track up to have a precise representation of a solution or application. From there you can expand with events ( you can choose from thousands of built in ones or create your own custom events) and smart alerts which can integrate with several systems like slack or MS Teams for example . And have your team ( developers , operations ) be on notice on the moment something occurs. So you can tackle any issue with great detail provided by the sensors, find the root cause and have remediation ASAP. IBM Instana also has fantastic lightweight performance and it will not be competing with your host's resources. Overall , IBM Instana is a great APM that keeps improving and adding features will reduce downtime and incident resolution on your systems, because their goal is that your company and it's business succeeds.

It is really great for systems that have a LOT of transactions( millions + being processed on a day to day basis with 24/7 activity) being able to get everything lets you pinpoint with precision where issues might be on applications with large volumes or that integrate with multiple systems or technologies. What is not so suited is with custom black box applications with obfuscation of data regarding the application or system solution. It will be limited to how much IBM Instana is able to read and capture. And if the vendor doesn't support OTeL it might be tough to get anything with any APM in the first place unless a specialized solution exists for that product.

We use IBM Instana as a monitoring tool to track real-time, previous statistics, and relative application instances, DB instances, and other instances that can be monitored through the dashboard. It helps us analyze the data, make informed decisions on how to fine-tune the applications, generate reports, and monitor the applications' behavior. It gives us the early warning detectors for potential issues that could be impacting us.

It is well-suited, especially if you are monitoring a lot of applications, meaning not only just one, but more than 10. It helps us to work with the instances on a bird's-eye view, at the same time, on a granular approach. We can back-track historical data as well as pull out real-time errors based on Instana.
