It is a very useful tool that provides recovery, replication, and retention of my databases and applications.
Pros
recovery
replication
retention
Cons
Integration with Amazon web services.
Integration with Microsoft Azure.
Likelihood to Recommend
It is a tool, which first is easy to deploy, and very efficient in recovery and replication issues; among the benefits of End-to-end policies, Management simplicity, Rapid data recovery, and Efficient data reuse of the aspects that could be improved in the tool is the integration with Amazon web services and Microsoft Azure.
Mainly focused to resolve centralized complex backup problems in the environment, widely used its data replication mechanism to transport/ship the data across multiple sites for enhanced reliability and keeping multiple copies of the data for recovery in case of disasters. In addition, inbuild integration with market-leading cloud service providers gives freedom to host non-critical business data and place them in different geographies. Lastly, popular functions such as space savings flashcopies, compression and deduplication features are a real deal life savers.
Pros
Firstly, replication is a real life hack which eases to copy data across sites.
IBM Spectrum Protect Plus dedupe algorithm is well designed to eliminate duplicate blocks and save maximum capacity.
Cons
It needs better integration with native VMWARE and its associated components, especially while taking backups of VM environments.
Likelihood to Recommend
Good for daily operational backups and their replications and areas like VM backup, when it comes to resting the backups in a cloud environment especially features like BYOL is an edge to IBM over its near competitors. On the other hand, a lot of scopes to improve to have native/application-aware backups for modern applications like AI and microservices.

Currently I am working with several customers considering Spectrum Protect Plus for their environments from healthcare to manufacturing businesses.
Pros
Simple to get up and running.
Touchless agents for SQL, Exchange and DB2 take the complexity out of setup and use.
Now integrated to offload to Spectrum Protect to provide a more robust DR strategy.
Cons
Incorporation of more touchless agents for physical servers.
Direct offload to tape - instead of requiring Spectrum Protect.
Likelihood to Recommend
I think that larger environments with a higher percentage of physical systems that require backup along side the virutalization environment sticking with a single backup/archive solution such as Spectrum Protect with Spectrum Protect for VE is still the most efficient use of administrators' time and energy.
For small shops that are looking for ease of use - this is a perfect fit.

Spectrum Protect is a great product. It works great. It was easy to deploy and configuration was done within 1/2 an hour. I was surprised by the easy installation. Now we do more backups with Spectrum Protect Plus. Workload with Spectrum Protect Plus. Backups are running much faster and easier. I can meet my SLA and management is very pleased with deployment of Spectrum Protect Plus. We are exploring more and more every day.
Pros
Can meet my SLA
File Level Restore
Can clone the VM for reuse
Cons
Just learning and exploring now
Likelihood to Recommend
Cannot back up Linux or Windows cluster. If Spectrum Protect Plus could back up physical and AIX it will be much better. So we do not have to use two products. It would be nice to have one dashboard for Spectrum Protect and Spectrum Protect Plus. AIX integration would be more ideal. So far it is good product
