IGOR - Your Personal Lab Assistant

What is IGOR - Your Personal Lab Assistant?

IGOR is a cloud-based lab management platform for research teams in biotech, pharma, academia, and contract research. Experiment documentation (ELN), lab inventory and sample tracking, SOP management, file storage, and project planning are all built in and connected — to replace the mix of paper notebooks, spreadsheets, and disconnected tools that most labs still run on.

Electronic Lab Notebook

Experiment entries support rich text, tables with formula support, annotated image grids, and file attachments. Every experiment automatically generates a unique ID, a linked notebook entry, and a dedicated file folder. Digital signature workflows meet FDA 21 CFR Part 11 requirements - authors sign, witnesses review, and entries lock. Full version history is maintained, and a compliant revision process exists for correcting approved entries. A Mission Control dashboard tracks outstanding review and approval tasks across the team.

Inventory & Sample Management

IGOR tracks samples through their complete lifecycle, with a full audit trail at every stage. At any point, teams can see where a material is stored, where it's been, who used it, what experiment it was used for, and how it relates to other samples. Parent-child relationships between samples are tracked with an interactive family tree viewer, so derivative samples stay connected to their origin. Storage locations mirror the physical lab down to grid-mapped box positions, and inventory items link directly to notebook entries.

Every lab organizes materials differently. IGOR's custom inventory repositories let teams build exactly the structure they need - whether tracking reagents, biospecimens, or engineered constructs - with their own item categories and metadata fields. Setup and customization are done through the interface with no coding required, and role-based permissions give admins control over who can make structural changes, so repositories stay consistent across the team. Barcode scanning lets researchers quickly assign samples to experiments or look up sample details on the spot — no manual searching required.

And bulk upload via Excel templates makes the transition from spreadsheets or legacy systems fast and easy.

SOP & Template Management

IGOR has a built-in SOP Generator that handles the full document lifecycle — drafting, review, approval, and archiving. The review and approval workflow uses 21 CFR Part 11-compliant digital signatures, so there's a clear, auditable record of who approved the SOP before it gets issued. When an SOP is attached to a notebook entry, a copy is saved to that experiment record — so it's always clear which version of the SOP the researcher was working from. Protocol deviations can be noted in the entry, and get tracked as part of the notebook's audit trail and document version history.

Teams can build and share experiment templates that define exactly what information needs to be captured for a given assay or procedure. Researchers document against a predefined format rather than building entries from scratch - so data capture is consistent and documentation is faster.

Team Workspaces

Each department or research group within an organization can set up its own independently configurable workspace — a separate environment with its own data, settings, and permissions. Inventory repositories can be kept team-specific or shared with other workspaces; SOPs and templates can be shared the same way. Users can belong to multiple teams with different roles and permissions in each, supporting both internal collaboration and secure engagements with CROs, sponsors, or clients.

Security & Compliance

IGOR is hosted on SOC 2-certified AWS infrastructure. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, with daily backups across multiple AWS regions for redundancy. Security policies are enforced directly at the database level via Row-Level Security - not just at the application layer - and the platform is GDPR compliant and Data Privacy Framework certified.

Implementation & Support

Configuration is point-and-click, no coding knowledge or vendor support required. Most teams complete setup and begin working within a few days. Personal onboarding, training, customization support and ongoing customer support are included in all subscription plans.

The ELN allows scientists to document their work using a rich text editor with table sections that support formulas and Excel imports, image galleries with annotation support, and file attachments for virtually any data type - all linked to relevant SOPs or templates within a single record. The ELN also integrates directly with the Inventory module, so scientists can track which samples and reagents were used in an experiment and how they connect to other samples or experiments in the system. Every entry is backed by full version control and a detailed audit trail, with 21 CFR Part 11-compliant digital signatures, witness records, and configurable approval workflows built in.
Screenshot of Inventory: Storage Location Map View
IGOR lets teams build a digital representation of their entire lab storage setup - from rooms and freezers down to individual box positions - fully customizable to match any physical layout. Color-coded map views make it easy to see at a glance which positions are occupied, empty, or flagged, and what the status of each sample is. Scientists can search for items within any specific location, check availability, and pinpoint exactly where a sample lives without walking to the freezer or flipping through handwritten logs.
Screenshot of Inventory: Sample History
Every inventory item in IGOR carries a complete, timestamped history of everything that's happened to it - from initial registration with full metadata, through relationship changes, storage location moves, and consumption in experiments. Each event records who made the change, when, and exactly what was modified, giving scientists a single place to reconstruct a sample's full story without chasing down paper logs or asking colleagues. Whether it's troubleshooting unexpected results, answering auditor questions, or verifying that proper handling procedures were followed, the full chain of events is always just a click away.
Screenshot of Inventory: Sample Relationship Tracking
IGOR's Inventory module automatically maps parent-child relationships between samples, giving scientists a visual lineage graph that traces how any item in the system - cell lines, plasmids, reagents, derived products - connects back to its origin. This makes it easy to answer questions like "where did this sample come from," "what was derived from it," and "which experiments used it," without piecing together information from spreadsheets or freezer logs. Full chain-of-custody documentation is built in, supporting both day-to-day lab decision-making and regulatory traceability requirements.
Screenshot of Team Workspace Dashboard
Each workspace in IGOR has its own dashboard where admins can see every team member at a glance - their role, access level, and join date. IGOR supports granular permission controls with Member, Admin, and Guest access levels, so teams can bring in external collaborators with read-only access without compromising data control. Admins can view any member's lab notebook or adjust their permissions directly from the dashboard, and a centralized Manage Members panel makes it easy to add, remove, or reconfigure access as teams evolve.
Screenshot of Project Manager: Gantt Chart View
IGOR's built-in Project Manager allows teams to plan research programs, assign tasks, set priorities, define dependencies between activities, and track progress on a visual Gantt timeline within the same platform where experiments are documented and samples are managed. Scientists can link experiments and notebook entries directly to project tasks, connecting the plan to the actual work. Milestones mark key decision points, and color-coded bars give an at-a-glance view of what's completed, in progress, or upcoming.
