Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We purchased ManageEngine ADAuditPlus as part of their Log360 package about 10 years ago, and we use it to deliver some of the reporting requirements of our PCI DSS Compliance, specifically part of SAQ D. Automated reports are now generated and can be checked for issues that might require resolution.

Pros

Scheduling reports for specific requirements within PCI DSS SAQ D.
Allowing ad-hoc queries when security questions arise.
Monitoring user behaviour regarding AD account password changes.

Cons

Some aspects of the user interface would benefit from a makeover.

Return on Investment

We don't measure ROI in that sense; it is simply a case of achieving a Pass or Fail on our compliance.

ManageEngine ADAudit Plus helps us collect logs from machines within the Active Directory environment. The products is able to help you define which GPO settings need to be configured to get the best out of those metrics and monitor you environment accordingly. The product is easy to use and offers a user-friendly interface to quickly find what you are looking for. Easy to deploy, and the solution is competitive on the market to fit anyone's budget.

Pros

Centralize the logs for all machines within the Active Directory environment
Allow search through defined criteria (ex: Failed Logons, etc.) that don't require manual customizing
Allow secure On-Premise log collection

Cons

Deploy On-Premise it can be complex to maintain overtime
Not always the most responsive product, the interface can take time to load
Better management of agents would be great to deploy on all machines including Intune-based ones

Decreases by half the time spent for a technician to retrieve the same information manually or from another software

We use ADAudit Plus to manage account, group, and GPO policy add, change and deletes as well as monitoring account login failures and troubleshooting account lockouts.

great interface to check your Microsoft AD environment for security issues.

Cons

I'd love to see if ADAudit could log LDAP logins from network appliances like Citrix NetScaler.
I'd love to see an easy for ADAudit to roll-up RDS logins for specific servers.
Maybe wizards in the future that can analyze the collected logs for what to analyze or correct?

Return on Investment

It helped greatly with customer support issues when we used ADAudit with the hundreds of customer accounts used for SSON to the LOB application server to users over Citrix.
It saved time on some issues with accounts and Group Policy changes that affected customer experience.

This is nice product to achieve this requirement on AD and Entra identities.
We are happy to use this product since last 2 years or more and recommending other to use to meet this requires.
