Endpoint Central how it changed our offices.

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use ManageEngine Endpoint Central for centralized endpoint management, with UEM licensing and the Security Add-on (BitLocker and Vulnerability Management). We use it to handle Windows and MacOS devices, patching, remote support, software deployment, OS deployment, and other basic or advanced activities. It helps us keep devices updated and compliant with policies, even outside our internal network. It surely improved our assistance as a helpdesk operator in terms of time and efficiency!

Pros

  • Endpoint Management.
  • Patching
  • Software Deployment.
  • OS Deployment.
  • MDM
  • Reports
  • Policy Deployment.
  • Remote Support.

Cons

  • Asset Inventory.
  • Licensing dashboard.
  • Improved remote connection.
  • Unified application store.
  • Categorizing Portal Apps with groups.

Likelihood to Recommend

For small businesses, it is also free, which, for what it offers, is really helpful. It works better than similar products, such as SCCM, both within and outside the internal network. I do not see scenarios in which it could be less appropriate.

ManageEngine Endpoint Central

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Endpoint Central gives us a lot of functionality in one product. Imaging computers and installing Windows updates has become much easier. The ability to install BIOS updates is also useful.

We like that we can give users admin access to specific apps when needed without having to give them full admin rights on the computer.

Software deployment is relatively easy. There a quite a lot of predefined software packages. Creating our own software packages isn't too difficult.

We have found managing BitLocker is much easier than group policy and auto rotation of the BitLocker keys is useful.

Dex has been very helpful in tracking down computer issues. It has allowed us to be more proactive on issues rather than waiting for end users to report on problems.

The inventory tracking has saved us quite a bit of time over our previous tools. It has pulled in all necessary information, including warranty dates, without having to manually create any custom fields.

Pros

  • OS deployment
  • Patch management
  • Inventory management
  • Mobile device management

Cons

  • It would be nice if the software deployment module integrated with the OS deployment module.

Likelihood to Recommend

It's well suited for hardware and software inventory management. It does well with OS deployment and patch management. BitLocker management is really well done.

The tool has a lot of features. Those not familiar with ManageEngine products may have a steep learning curve if deploying them all at once.

Easy and Consistent Patch Management and Compliance

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We bought ManageEngine Endpoint Central to cover the IT assets (computers, laptops, servers, etc), as we wanted an easier way to manage and patch these devices. What we also discovered was that ManageEngine can deliver compliance reports (for Cyber Essentials and CIS Hardening), which is very helpful for creating business with clients - as we can assure them that we are taking our information security seriously.

Pros

  • Patch Management
  • Compliance Reports
  • Deployment of the Agent
  • Zero-Day Fixes

Cons

  • Some menu items could either be placed in a different tab, or at least put in both
  • It would be nice to have toggle to hide vulnerabilities that have no patches/fixes available
  • Adding more error messages to when things go wrong, rather than just simply referring to a KB article that might not be appropriate

Likelihood to Recommend

Starting with when it might not be appropriate: a very small business with low turnover. It is a very good product, however it can be very costly if money is a concern. I think in terms of providing patch management that not just works, but provides fixes for vulnerabilities that might not have an official patch gives it an edge over some other products.

  • Software and hardware inventory management
  • Script Deployment
  • MDM for mobile devices
  • Vulnerability management
  • Despliegue de parches
  • Soporte Remoto
  • Gestión de inventarios de software y Hardware
  • Despliegue de Script
  • MDM para dispositivos moviles
  • Gestión de vulnerabilidades

Cons

  • In the Cloud version, the ability to control the updating of the patch vulnerability database on demand, given that the console currently performs this automatically.
  • It has extensive reporting capabilities; I would just like to have a more specific software report broken down by software type.

Likelihood to Recommend

With a single tool like Endpoint Central, you can provide remote support, manage your entire Microsoft and third-party patch system, allowing configuration by remote offices and distribution servers for greater efficiency and to avoid overloading your links, configure automatic tasks to be deployed during non-business hours, manage your encryption systems for both Windows and Mac computers through EC, and have the option to activate MDM for your devices. Their support is excellent, with assistance available from both local providers and the vendor directly, should the need arise.

Great product

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use ManageEngine for remoting into devices, third-party party patching, device information, and server management as well. We are able to allow our third-party help desk team access to internal devices when they need to be able to remote into them to provide assistance. Our system administrators are able to easily see what patches are missing throughout the organization and deploy them with easy. We are able to make queries that provide a lot of device information.

Pros

  • 3rd Party Application Patching
  • Device Information
  • Remoting into a Device

Cons

  • Customizable Dashboard
  • Disable Tabs if Unused
  • Disable Security notifications if already 89% done

Likelihood to Recommend

It is more well suited than Intune because of how much more is offered than Intune provides. Intune is able to provide some device information and patching, but nothing as extensive as what ManageEngine is able to do. ManageEngine is able to provide 3rd party patching, remoting, and much more device information for a lower cost than Intune's premium versions.

Endpoint Central can be your new UEM.

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We chose a new UEM solution, so I ran the trial version of this product and compared it with other solutions. We need to manage near by 500 devices (498 Windows 2 MacOS) And 400 Android devices and 2 iOS After test it has really nice features like keep the third party appp updated. Before Endpoint Central, it took me 2 days per week; now I have 16 hours per week free.

Pros

  • Patch Management.
  • Manage Devices.
  • Integration to AD.
  • Integration with Knox.
  • Computer Configuration.

Cons

  • Mismatch between documentation and real product.
  • Features should be available to open trough Admin panel not a support request.
  • I do not see more.

Likelihood to Recommend

I think most scenarios are well-suited to Endpoint Central. Keep third-party applications upgraded, OS Deployment, Report Endpoint with vulnerabilities, check compliance with CIS, but it is much more, internal app deployment, much more compliance policy, Integration with Office 365 Conditional Access, Endpoint Configuration, Works fine with custom script even when you don't know any scripts, there are plenty of templates.

  • Inventory.
  • Aplication Control.
  • Bitlocker Management.
  • Wake On Lan process.
  • Remote Desktop Support.

we are currently using this tool for more than 2 years so far it's good but at certain place they really need to improve the future development more as some other endpoint tool are really has good feature for end user experience and here I need to ask or request for development

Pros

  • Patch management
  • Apps deployment
  • Asset management
  • remote support

Cons

  • Self service portal redesign
  • Azure Entra ID sync
  • better and east to match local system time instead of standard server time

Likelihood to Recommend

most suite on patch management automated process easy to use, sometime office updates are delayed by backend team
App as well as text popup feature has to match local system time instead of local server time

Great Product. Checks the boxes

Rating: 7 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use the remote control to connect to machine and help customers. This is useful when we need to troubleshoot items visually or train the user how to use software. This allows us to quickly address issues and maintain good customer relations.
Patch management is also used to keep the system up to date and patched

Pros

  • Chat support
  • Patch Management
  • Asset management

Cons

  • Support which last beyond the initial contact
  • More fields for reporting
  • Better options for licensing

Likelihood to Recommend

More reporting options would be useful. EPC needs more fields to build reports on. Sometimes if chat does not solve the issue, the ticket can get long and may take a week to solve. I enjoy the prompt support. Chat support is quick and helpful. Items are typically solved with one session.
