It is widely used for development purposes and can be used by front end developers as well as a backed team.
Supported multiple languages such as:
  • JavaScript
  • TypeScript
  • HTML,CSS
  • Python
  • PHP
  • C/C# and many more
It always updates the security features regularly and has broad support from Microsoft.
Mainly our developers & QA support team are using it since it has vast language support.
  • Supports multiple languages such as C/C#,Python, JavaScript etc.
  • Has support for built-in plugins.
  • Easy customization for team requirements.
  • Smart sense for completing and detecting code.
  • Poor interface and it took time to figure it out the feature.
  • Crash and closed automatically during the coding.
  • Doesn't have enough support for Front End coding such as HTML,Css. Should have live view during coding in the window itself.
It is best for coding purposes and it is easy to debug while coding. It is flexible and I personally use it for JavaScript.
However, although it supports HTML,Css, due to its complexity it is very difficult to use it for Front end coding.
Auto detection is a good feature in it and I will recommend it to my friends for other languages, except for web development.
It would be great if it provided smoother support for web development.
  • Really good for smoother development. Will make the coding faster and will help in reaching deadlines easier.
  • No extra investment is required since we can install it directly from their website.
  • Not good for web development. Better go for the alternative approach
  • Notepad++, Atom, Sublime Text and Brackets
Earlier I was using Adobe Dreamweaver since web pages are easier to make in it. However, due to high cost I switched to Brackets, Sublime Text, and then Visual Studio Code. While it lacks few things, currently due to regular updates and vast community support, it comes out to be better than the rest. It supports plugins and themes which is also used by large community as well. So you trust the features can be used without hesitation.
[object Object], [object Object], [object Object], [object Object]
  • Auto populating is the great feature which can detect classes and other tags
  • Easy to sort out the functions, classes
  • I feel it is very difficult to find and replace feature and to replace in the folder, one need to upload the whole folder.
  • Multiple window in one page can lead to many confusion. It could be better.
It has a small learning curve and one needs to have hands on to use it in a smoother way.
Features are really good but those features are hidden with icons and placed at inappropriate places which makes the IDE complex.Find and replace feature could be better and one can find the words by using the link only as it is in the Dreamweaver.

Microsoft Visual Studio Code is a very helpful, good software for text/source-code editing. It has enormous features. I used it as a code editor but sometimes I used it as text editor, too. I am greatly benefitting from it. The best thing about this software is that it gives us plenty of useful features in a single software like code/text editing, debugging, etc. Overall, I didn't face any major problems with it.
  • Microsoft Visual Studio Code is my favorite because there are lots of useful code-editing features packed in a single software.
  • It saves time--it has a feature that automatically writes the rest of the code (Intelligent Code Completion).
  • It has a very easy-to-use interface (UI) unlike any similar product in the market.
  • It is very good at debugging code.
  • If we continuously use Microsoft Visual Studio Code for many hours, devices gets heated up.
  • It consumes so much battery in a very less time.
  • It takes time descent amount of time to open. Not Recommended for Slow Computers.
If you're a programmer/developer, I would likely recommend Microsoft Visual Studio Code to you more than anyone else, as it may not be that much useful to anyone except you. Overall, I will recommend it to everyone.
  • Overall, it has helped us very much
  • It had a positive impact on our business.
  • It was very helpful in website building, website development, and other projects.
I selected this software because it had enormously useful features, which weren't available in any other similar products in the market.
The customer support is very good.
Because of its flexibility, it deserved that rating.

Visual Studio Code is a great consolidation of features to make a seamless development environment. It is nice to be able to build, edit, and run programs from one integrated tool. The editor has integrated code completion and support for hundreds of languages. With the popularity of Node and Javascript in general, however, it has really been tailored to be the go-to development tool for those platforms.
  • IntelliSense code completion
  • Syntax highlighting
  • Integrated terminal
  • Built in scripting tools
  • Cross-platform. Windows, Mac, Linux
  • It's built on Javascript itself, so it can have trouble handling larger files.
  • It is still a new product, and even with the backing of a behemoth like Microsoft, you will occasionally run into bugs here and there.
  • It is not a true IDE so it lacks some of the tools from that kind of environment like scaffolding and Microsoft's Team Foundation Server
Microsoft Visual Studio Code is really designed and ideally suited for developers focused on client-side technologies and who want a solid cross-platform tool. For larger and more expansive projects, it is probably not the most ideal tool. Visual Studio Code fills a rapidly expanding niche in the web development world.
  • Simplified toolset. If you want, it can be your go-to for small web projects without the need for an assortment of other programs.
  • Open source and free so there is no initial cost
  • It works like most other editors and command-line tools. Your developers will already know how to use it, and will also be able to customize it with ease.
This is a tool for programmers and it works like many others. If you are in the development world already then you will be sailing in no time with Microsoft Visual Studio Code. It is also great for new developers and it is very easy to use and you can get all the tools you need in one place as you begin to learn.
It is an open source product, but VS Code is an open source project with the backing of one of the biggest software companies ever. The support pages and documentation are always helpful and even being a fairly new tool it has a strong community. There are frequent bug fixes and updates as well as a strong community plug in market.
Sublime Text is strictly a text editor and it is the most robust around in my opinion. It is better than Microsoft Visual Studio Code in this respect, but VS Code has other tools that make using it more streamlined. Brackets has a bit of the weakness of VS Code and Sublime Text. It is basically only an editor and it is built on javascript so there are file size and speed issues. Brackets remains around for me solely for how well it is suited for HTML. Visual Studio IDE is a beast. If you need the functionality of it, there are no other alternatives. But you are wasting time and money if you are doing the light front end work that the free and open VS Code is built for.

From developing code to managing commits on GitHub, Microsoft Visual Studio Code saves the day.
One of the best platform to develop in that provides multiple plugins for making life simple. Whatever language you need, Microsoft Visual Studio Code will support it for sure and if not, there will be multiple plugins for the same. There is code completion, error highlights, code suggestions, syntax highlights, and an inbuilt console. It is really a developers dream. Used almost by every developer and is appreciated by everyone.
  • Syntax highlighting, code completions.
  • Plugins for various additional support and extending its functionality.
  • GitHub Integration.
  • Error when handling and inbuilt console.
  • Some plugins are not easy to configure.
  • Sometimes when using auto format plugin, it makes code behave improperly. It adds additional line breaks in areas not needed.
  • Initially a bit difficult to understand how some functions work.
It is something which a developer can use for any use case may it be web development, react-native and what not. They can make some improvements to include additional features for SpringBoot and other advanced Java support which will make it even better. Nevertheless, Microsoft Visual Studio Code is a flexible program that can nearly be used anywhere.
  • Made development faster.
  • Made collaboration better.
The reason for this rating is because,
  • It is easy to use
  • It supports many languages
  • It helps in development in almost every use case
  • It is easy to set up and mostly every feature is easy to use
  • It provides additional plugins for better integration
Customer support is somewhere where someone might face some problems. Sometimes for certain features/plugins, there is no proper documentation. You need to write emails and wait for followups in case of errors.
It is more advanced, it has more features and is a lot better than its competitors in terms of everything.
It stands the best among all the similar software of this type.

Microsoft visual studio code is used by developers in our organization. It is mainly used for java scripts apps like Angular, Reactive. This IDE is open source and provides rich features. Syntax highlighting, auto-completion, and code refactoring is easy. Debug is so simple with this IDE. Also, it provides so many extensions. It's extremely fast.

  • Debug feature is awesome. Easy to add debug points, no need to add manual console print.

I used Atom before using Visual Studio Code. Atom is slow, has higher memory usage and crashes sometimes.
Also, Visual Studio Code has thousands of extensions in comparison to Atom. Atom is not suitable for slow or old computers.
Yes
