Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Since we are a headless ecommerce organization, and it is one in which the front-end and back-end systems are decoupled, meaning that the front-end, which is responsible for presenting the website to customers, is separate from the back-end, which is responsible for managing the ecommerce functionality. In this context, SafeDNS is used to protect the back-end systems, that is the server and database, from online threats and to monitor and control internet activity related to the ecommerce systems. At fabric we use it for the following: 1. Productivity: By using SafeDNS to block access to specific websites, such as social media or gaming sites, during work hours, help increase productivity by reducing distractions for employees. 2. SafeDNS can be configured to block unwanted traffic, this can help to keep the server and the network resources in optimal state, and also it will help in preventing DDoS attacks 3. SafeDNS allows to create different user groups and assign different policies to them, so the startup can restrict access to certain resources, or to certain website categories.

Pros

  • Protecting sensitive data: By monitoring and controlling the internet activity on the back-end systems, the startup can protect sensitive data such as customer information, financial transactions, and other sensitive data.
  • By using SafeDNS to monitor and control employee internet activity, a headless e-commerce startup can ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to internet usage, such as data privacy and security laws.
  • SafeDNS can be configured to block unwanted traffic, this can help to keep the server and the network resources in optimal state, and also it will help in preventing DDoS attacks

Cons

  • Filtering accuracy: While SafeDNS provides filtering of websites, it's possible that it could be improved to more accurately identify and block unwanted content. This could be achieved by implementing more advanced algorithms or incorporating more data sources.
  • Reporting and analytics: Some users may find that the reporting and analytics capabilities of SafeDNS are lacking and could be improved, for example by providing more detailed information about internet usage, or more sophisticated filtering and reporting tools.
  • Compatibility: Some organizations may have legacy systems that are not fully compatible with SafeDNS. Improving compatibility could make it easier for these organizations to integrate SafeDNS into their existing infrastructure.

Likelihood to Recommend

it is well-suited for the following scenarios:Organizations that need to comply with regulatory requirements related to internet usage, such as data privacy and security laws, and that need to monitor and control employee internet activity.Organizations that are concerned about online threats and need to protect their networks and endpoints from malware, phishing, and other types of malicious content.Organizations that need to improve productivity by reducing distractions for employees, and/or need to restrict access to specific websites during work hours.Organizations that need to protect sensitive data such as customer information, financial transactions and other sensitive data, by monitoring and controlling the internet activity on the back-end systems. However, SafeDNS may not be as appropriate for the following scenarios:Organizations that have very limited IT resources and lack the skills and knowledge required to set up and manage SafeDNS Organizations that have specific needs and requirements that are not met by the features and capabilities of SafeDNS, for example organizations that require advanced threat detection and response capabilities.Organizations that may have limited budget, SafeDNS does require a subscription cost, that might not be feasible for smaller businesses with limited resources.Organizations that are using legacy systems that are not compatible with SafeDNS, that may not be able to integrate it to their infrastructure.

Without reinventing the wheel, SafeDNS is effective in preventing employees and customers from using our information material in an inappropriate way and this, by user group, because of course, we do not have the same needs from one department to another. I recommend it to any serious company that wants to limit access to certain types of websites that may be inappropriate or offensive. Safe DNS: An outstanding filtering product for libraries

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it for filtering on our public computers and public wi-fi network. We do not use it on our staff computers as they are unfiltered. We have been very happy with the product. The ease of installation was a big factor in deciding to purchase it. The price is also very reasonable.

Pros

  • Filters porn
  • Is transparent and works quickly
  • Easy to set up the filters

Cons

  • I can't think of a thing that we would need improved.

Likelihood to Recommend

I have recommended it to other libraries in my state through a user group for techies.
